The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Management Committee (MC), Office of President Hoyer (MC/PRESIDENT), at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a:

Driver

This is a full time position in grade 1 - 2

The term of this contract will be 4 years

The EIB offers fixed-term contracts of up to a maximum of 6 years, according to business needs,

with a possibility to convert to a permanent contract, subject to organisational requirements and individual performance.

Panel interviews are anticipated for mid December

Purpose

As Driver you will be responsible for driving and maintaining the official vehicle of the President and performing administrative support tasks within the team.

Operating network

You willl report to Head of President’s office and will be in regular contact with all members of the office of the President (advisers, assistants). You will also be in contact with the other MC members drivers.

Accountabilities

  • Driving the vehicle assigned to the President
  • Day-to-day maintenance of the vehicle (cleaning, washing, fluid levels, etc.)
  • To the extent possible, ensuring the physical safety of persons transported
  • Performing administrative tasks at the President's office request
  • Working in cooperation with the office's assistants to respond effectively to needs and plan ahead

Specific requirements of post

  • High sense of discretion
  • Flexibility and availability to work outside of core working hours and overtime, including short notice requests and overnight stays.
  • Ability to maintain a log book, of journeys made and of the vehicle in general (fuel, mileage, repair)
  • Ability to plan routes and travel
  • Self-control
  • On-call and standby duties

Qualifications

  • Upper secondary school diploma (vocational baccalaureate)
  • Valid category B driving licence
  • At least 5 consecutive years’ experience as a driver (experience driving VIPs and company directors will be an asset)
  • Knowledge of the highway code and rules of the road in Luxembourg and neighbouring countries
  • Knowledge of defensive driving practices and methods
  • Knowledge of general vehicle maintenance and repair 
  • Very good knowledge of in-vehicle tools (navigation, hands-free kit, etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience with using IT and telephony tools (Windows, email, Microsoft Word, smartphones)
  • Basic training on the physical protection of persons transported
  • First aid training
  • Excellent command of English and/or French (*). Knowledge of other EU languages will be an advantage

(*) There may be certain flexibility on this requirement, but limited to particularly suitable candidates who may not yet be proficient in French. If selected, such candidates will be hired on the condition that they build up rapidly knowledge of French and accept that their future career in the EIB may be subject to the attainment of sufficient proficiency in both of the Bank's working languages
