The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs




Our Ideal Candidate:

We are seeking a highly motivated professional individual to join our Syria Response Office’s operations. The ideal candidate must have a minimum 2 years of experience from working as a Project Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context and with previous relevant experience with communities in rural areas and camps. Also, the candidate must have a bachelor degree in Social Sciences, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or any other relevant field, considered applications aren’t limited to ones with engineering background.

The purpose of the WASH Project Officer position is to support the implementation of the day to day activities of the WASH project and assist the team in coordinating all related activities remotely in the Northwest of Syria.

Generic responsibilities

  1. Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  2. Implement delegated WASH project  portfolio according to plan of action
  3. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  4. Ensure proper filing of documents
  5. Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
  6. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement

Specific responsibilities

  1. Administers the project’s activities including raising purchase requisitions, preparation of payment supporting documents, and maintaining the project’s archive.
  2. Ensures that all project related documents are scanned and stored electronically, and ensures proper filing of project’s documents that are submitted by the field teams.
  3. Provides required support to WASH field staff and technical capacity building.
  4. Assess project products quality and ensure the quality check is conducted periodically with monitoring activities.
  5. Organise and attend weekly meetings with field staff and help in producing minutes and team work plans.
  6. Report issues and risks to line manager and take corrective action when necessary to meet project objectives.
  7. Prepare regular sectorial reports, i.e. weekly checkpoint reports and submits material for preparation of the periodic project.
  8. Provide technical support and help in conducting sectorial need assessment remotely and produce assessment reports.
  9. Carries out any other related WASH activities relevant to the role, as requested by the line manager.
