CONTEXTUAL BACKGROUND The Syria crisis is often described as the worst humanitarian catastrophe since the end of the Cold War. Inside Syria, 7.6 million people are internally displaced and 12.2 million are in need of humanitarian assistance, with 4.8 million in hard-to-reach areas. There are 4 million Syrian refugees in neighboring countries. The devastating human consequences to huge numbers of people will endure for decades. The destruction of relationships, communities, livelihoods, homes and infrastructure will take years to repair. IRC is offering a robust humanitarian response to the Syria crisis. With an annual regional portfolio of $90 million within a rapidly expanding portfolio, supported by more than 3,000 staff and workers in the region, IRC is undertaking programs in Syria and the neighboring countries of Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan. Inside Syria, the IRC is specifically focused on health, cash assistance, education, child protection, women’s protection and empowerment, and livelihood programming. Our work in these challenging settings gives rise to some of the most pressing issues facing contemporary humanitarian action, including questions of access, security, funding and coordination. Job Overview/Summary As part of the Economic Recovery & Development (ERD) team, the Information Management Officer Northwest (NW) Syria will be responsible for data cleaning and quality checks, information management, vulnerability scoring, pivot table analysis of data, and interfacing with IRC’s data collection platform for IRC’s ERD programs in NW Syria including Cash and Basic Needs, Livelihoods, and/or Agricultural Livelihoods Programming. He/she will ensure that programs are supported to be able to efficiently and effectively analyze data, make programmatic decisions, and store data appropriately and accurately. He/she will report to the Program focal points, either the Cash and Basic Needs Manager or Senior Livelihoods Officer in Amman and will work closely with IRC’s ERD Coordinator and Senior Manager for NW Syria.
