What we do

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of war and other situations of violence and to provide them with protection and assistance.

The Trends, Reputation, Analysis & Knowledge - DTD_TRAKof the ICRC uses and exploits external public information that will help the ICRC making better informed decisions.

Purpose

In the framework of improving ICRC understanding of the public debate and the impact of its public communications activities, theTRAKunit is recruiting a trainee for a one-year period to support Information Analysts in

  • Analyzing the ICRC's media coverage, its public communication and the communication of the other main humanitarian organiazations
  • Identifying trends, influencers in relation to ICRC campaigns and topics of interest

Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities

Under the supervision and guidance of the Media Analysts, the post holder will:

  • Conduct daily/weekly media monitoring; s/he identifies, collects and synthesizes information mentioning the ICRC or the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and other main humanitarian organizations
  • Produce visual & reader friendly analytical reports integrating measurement & benchmark data as well as recommendations for future communications plans.
  • Conduct ad-hoc researches and produce short syntheses / reports on subjects of interest to the ICRC, using environment scanning and data analysis tools.

Certifications / Education required

University degree in the social sciences, international relations or specialization in the information/communication sciences

 

Desired profile and skills

  • Experience in conducting social media monitoring and researches
  • Knowledge of professional traditional and social media monitoring tools
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Proactive and autonomous with a proven ability to initiate and conduct searches;
  • Ability to create visually clear reports, combining data with context
  • Experience with data analytics and tools
  • Interest in new technologies
  • Team player
  • Ability to adapt to varying workload and to work under pressure with very short deadlines
  • Well organized, with an eye for detail, quality and accuracy
  • Knowledge of the humanitarian and/or international relations field is an asset
