Mental health and psychosocial support worker

The mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) program aims to ensure that crisis-affected populations have access to high quality humanitarian services focusing on the promotion and treatment of mental health concerns. The project will address the mental health needs of the population in North West of Syria.

Job Overview/Summary:The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Worker (MHPSS Worker) will be based within health static facility within the health sector with possible field visits within the community and joining mobile medical units to provide with evidence based preventative and curative services and primary mental health care like PFA and regular psychological support counseling sessions to people suffering from mental health concerns, he/she will be also responsible to conduct awareness sessions around mental health issues in the community to decrease the social stigma.The MHPSS Worker will also be responsible for managing mental health cases, conducting appropriate referrals to a psychiatrist if needed and protection services and or any other services. The MHPSS worker will provide psychological interventions based on the client’s needs and presenting complaints, after assessing the client’s needs using appropriate psychological assessment tools. He/she will also be responsible on managing the client’s data flow and keep the data safe and confidential.

Reports to:The position will report to the MHPSS Specialist with continuous coordination with the facility manager.

Major Responsibilities:

• Assessing a client's needs, abilities or behavior using a variety of methods, including psychometric tests, interviews and direct observation of behavior.
• Conduct counseling sessions for individuals, groups, or families to help them understand problems, define goals, and develop realistic action plans
• Manage client’s data and information and keep it safe and confidential using data management systems like Commcare for example.
• Working as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside doctors, nurses, social workers, education professionals, psychiatrists and protection teams.
• Refer clients if needed to specialists or to other institutions for other kinds of services using the referral pathways.
• Conduct psychoeducation and have a role in the mental health awareness in the community.
• Evaluating service provision for clients; including pre and post treatment tests, satisfaction surveys…etc.
• Submit weekly and monthly case load reports, including the quantitative and qualitative data.
• Participate in weekly and monthly team meetings.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IRC programs

لمحة عامة عن العمل / ملخص

سوف يعمل عامل الصحة النفسية و الدعم النفسي الاجتماعي ضمن العيادات الطبية مع احتمالية القيام بزيارات مجتمعية او التنقل ضمن العيادات الطبية المتنقلة و سوف يكون مسؤولاً عن تزويد المستفدين بخدمات الصحة النفسية والدعم النفسي الاجتماعي للأفراد الذين يعانون من مشكلات الصحة النفسية و تقديم الرعاية النفسية الأساية و الاسعافات النفسية الأولية للأفراد من خلال عقد جلسات دعم  واستشارة نفسية، و القيام بجلسات توعوية حول قضايا الصحة النفسية في المجتمع المحلي من شأنها تخفيف الوصمة الاجتماعية، و سيقوم بادارة الحالات و تحويلها الى خدمات اخرى مثل الطبيب النفسي او خدمات الحماية اذا لزم الأمر، سيقوم بتقديم التدخل النفسي بناءاً على حاجات المستفيد و الأعراض الظاهرة بعد اجراء التقييم النفسي المناسب باستعمال أدوات تقييم نفسية. و سيقوم أيضاً باداراة المعلومات المتعلقة بالمستفدين و حفظها بشكل سري.

وسيقوم صاحب هذا المنصب بتقديم تقرير الى مسؤول الصحة النفسية والتعاون الوثيق والقريب مع مدير المركز.

المسؤوليات الرئيسية

1. قياس احتياجات و سلوكيات المستفدين فيما يتعلق بالصحة النفسية، باستعمال اختبارات تقييم نفسي مختلفة، و من خلال اجراء المقابلات الاكلينيكية و الملاحظة المباشرة.
2. القيام بجلسات استشارة نفسية للأفراد و المجموعات و العائلات لمساعدتهم على فهم المشكلات التي يمرون بها و تحديد الأهاداف و تطوير خطة علاجية واضحة و قابلة للتطبيق.
3. ادارة معلومات المستفيدين و الحفاظ عليها أمنة و بشكل سري باستعمال أنظمة ادارة المعلومات مثل نظام commcare  للصحة النفسية أو أي نظام آخر.
4. العمل ضمن فريق متكامل من أطباء، ممرضين، أخصائيين اجتماعيين، معلمين، أطباء نفسيين، و عاملين في مجال الحماية.
5. عند الحاجة، تحويل النمستفيدين الى خدمات متخصصة اخرى باستعمال أنظمة التحويل المتوفرة.
6. القيام بجلسات توعية مجتمعية حول قضايا الصحة النفسية.
7. تقييم الخدمة المقدمة للمستفيدين، من خلال اجراء الاختبارات النفسية و اختبار مستوى الرضا عن الخدمة ... الخ.
8. تقديم التقارير الاسبوعية و الشهرية عن الحالات التي تم التعامل معها.
9. المشاركة في الاجتماعات الاسبوعية و الشهرية للفريق.
10. أي مهام أخرى متعلقة بالعمل تطلب من المشرف المباشر.
