UNICEF Indonesia is seeking a Communication Officer who will assist in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating an advocacy and communication strategy to get children’s and women’s issues into the public domain, strengthen political will in support of UNICEF's mission and objectives in the country, and enhance the organization’s credibility and brand. As UNICEF is seeking to better programme for adolescents and youth by engaging with young people as equal partners, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the office in its day-to-day engagement with adolescents. UNICEF aims to achieve systematic and meaningful participation in issues affecting their lives. This can be in the form of decision-making at school, village and district level, but also at national level through participating in strategy and policy development on issues affecting them. UNICEF seeks to amplify the voices of adolescent boys and girls across all programmatic sectors in the Office, as well as with UN, NGO, academia, private sector and with a government partners.

How can you make a difference?

  1. Engagement with Adolescents: through programmatic tasks and U-report specific tasks
  2. Monitoring and evaluation: Regular monitoring and evaluation activities are undertaken to ensure maximum impact. Results and reports are prepared and shared on a timely basis.

     

Programmatic tasks:

  1. Work with and coordinate with UNICEF’s Adolescent team and Adolescent Focal Points to ensure meaningful participation of adolescents in programming. Convene, engage with internal and external partners including government officials, civil society partners, youth networks and other UN agencies on adolescent issues to support the implementation of UNICEF Indonesia’s Adolescent Strategy, Promising Practices in Adolescent Programming..
  2. Ensure that project deliverables are provided on time and on budget; Provide inputs to the development of donor proposals and contribute to resource mobilization efforts; Ensure timely follow-up and monitoring of donor-related activities in the field. 
  3. Support integration of U-Report in programmes, as well as support the implementation of “Generation Next” agenda of UNICEF, aiming to engage and empower young people.

     

    U-Report specific tasks:

  1. Set up a U-Report steering committee with partners to ensure meaningful engagements through U-Report and capacity building of youth organizations.
  2. Create Standard Operating Procedures to be followed by all users of the U-Report platform.
  3. Create a Roadmap of integrating U-Report into common/shared initial set of priorities that are in line with key partner priorities, including for funding modalities for U-Report and integration of U-Report in programming. 
  4. Manage day-to-day U-Report online and offline engagements. Monitoring, analysis and evaluate aspects of the U-Report implementation.
  5. Conduct the training for the trainers (ToTs) of partners’ focal points on the utilization of U-Report to advance the rights of Young People. 
  6. Work directly with aggregator and social media agency to ensure contractual obligations of third parties are met. 

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Advanced University degree*) in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: International Development, Communication, Business Administration, or another related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience in supporting and coordinating project activities across a large organization and with other international partner organizations; Progressively responsible professional work experience in youth engagement, communication, education, and technology fields, some of which should be in an international setting.
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia. 

(*First level university degree in combination with 4 years of experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
