UNICEF Indonesia is seeking a Child Protection Officer who will provide professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for child protection (bullying, positive discipline, child marriage, parenting, and family violence prevention) programs/projects within the Country Program from development planning to delivery of results, preparing, executing, managing and implementing a variety of technical and administrative program tasks to facilitate program development, implementation, program progress monitoring, evaluating and reporting.

How can you make a difference?

1. Support to program development and planning

  • Research and analyse global and national trends on parenting, bullying, positive discipline, child marriage and family violence prevention and other social norms issues to facilitate program development
  • Support in designing pilot interventions on social norms, including review and finalization of modules, contributing to finalization of partnership documents, etc.
  • Contribute to coordination of office-wide objective on child marriage, including development and review of strategic planning documents such as advocacy strategy and Theory of Change.

2. Program management, monitoring and delivery of results

  • Work closely and collaboratively with internal and external colleagues and partners to collect/analyze/share information on implementation issues, suggest solutions on routine program implementation and submit reports to alert appropriate officials and stakeholders for higher-level intervention and/or decisions. Keep record of reports and assessments for easy reference and/or to capture and institutionalize lessons learned.
  • Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises, program reviews and annual sectoral reviews with government and other counterparts and prepare minutes/reports on results for follow up action by higher management and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor and report on the use of sectoral program resources (financial, administrative and other assets), verify compliance with approved allocation/goals, organizational rules, regulations/procedures and donor commitments, standards of accountability and integrity.
  • Report on issues identified to ensure timely resolution by management/stakeholders. Follow up on unresolved issues to ensure resolution.
  • Provide inputs for the development of reports for management, donors and partners

3. Technical and operational support to program implementation

  • Undertake field visits and surveys and/or collect/share information with partners/stakeholders to assess progress and provide technical support and/or refer to relevant officials for resolution. Report on critical issues, bottlenecks and potential problems for timely action to achieve results.
  • Provide technical and operational support to government counterparts, NGO partners, UN system partners and other country office partners/donors on the application and understanding of UNICEF policies, strategies, processes and best practices on social norms and related issues to support program implementation, operations and delivery of results.

4. Networking and partnership building

  • Map and regularly update key stakeholders in relevant social norms areas including child marriage, and prevention of violence against children
  • Organize or participate on regular meetings with partners and key stakeholders working on social norms and produce minutes, including acting as liaison for Indonesia Adolescent Girls Network and other relevant networks, as requested.
  • Build and sustain effective close working partnerships with government counterparts and national stakeholders through active sharing of information and knowledge to facilitate program implementation and build capacity of stakeholders to achieve and sustain results on child protection.
  • Draft communication and information materials such as briefing notes, concept notes and other background materials for meetings with donors, media and policy makers

5. Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building

  • Identify, capture, synthesize and promote lessons learned for knowledge development and to build the capacity of stakeholders in the form of policy briefs, good practices, case studies, etc.
  • Serve as focal point for U-report and social media on social norms issues
  • Participate as resource person in capacity building initiatives to enhance the competencies of stakeholders.

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Advanced University degree*) in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law or other social science field
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience.
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia. 

(*First level university degree in combination with 4 years of experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
