OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

Unitaid is a multilateral partnership hosted by the World Health Organization. Unitaid is focused on making a unique and impactful contribution to the global response against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria in developing countries. It catalyses improvements for the larger response through forward-looking and time-limited investments that are designed to increase access to better, more effective and more affordable health products (i.e. preventatives, medicines and diagnostics). These investments typically target market-based interventions such as price reductions, improvements in quality and supply, and the introduction of innovative products more suitable for the populations in need.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

- Lead internal grant management process improvement projects and initiatives through evaluation of current work processes and identification of improvement strategies.- Benchmark internal operational processes and external system solutions for effective management of current and prospective grant portfolios.- Engage with external stakeholders in the global health landscape to assess the deployment of established systems/processes and benchmark best practices.- Interact closely with cross-functional teams, to secure alignment and solution excellence for effective grant management and performance.- Use a methodical yet collaborative approach with cross-functional teams to perform gap analyses, standardize innovative solutions around best practices, and introduce action plans for continuous improvement.- Reduce variation and duplication of processes so that simplification is obtained and operational efficiencies are gained.- Support the Director of Operations in developing, tracking and managing internal Key Performance Indicators and developing/implementing effective quality control systems.- Understand grantee needs by implementing periodic surveys/customer feedback loops and participating in country-based operational/performance audits and assessments to identify and implement process improvements for approval by senior management.- Create clearly defined and mutually agreeable success metrics for each new system or process and establish a plan to track, monitor, and measure the success of those metrics.- Design and ensure maintenance of information systems that capture and transparently share up-to-date operational data about the grant portfolio and routinely produce internal dashboards of key data for reporting and decision-making. - Lead preparation and production of Unitaid's annual Grant Portfolio Update to its Executive Board and coordinate Operations Team contributions (including both data and narrative content) to other public and internal Unitaid reports and evaluations. - Serve as focal point for conceiving, designing and launching internal and external communications approaches and tools for effective grant management and strategic/operational partner engagement.- Support the Director and Team Leads to mentor and guide Operations staff, ensuring access to ongoing training programmes, policies, operational procedures, and guiding them in building their technical, management and communications skills.- Work with the Director, other Senior Management Team members and HR counterparts to identify plans for change management and internal communications in support of grant management and performance.- Build, lead and support cross functional teams in implementing process changes.- Perform other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential\: Advanced level university degree in one of the following areas\: public or business administration, professional writing/communications, project management, engineering or related field.


Experience

Essential\: - At least 7 years of combined progressive experience at an international level comprising project quality management and business process improvement. Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience in project/grant performance management and evaluation, including business systems and processes. Minimum 5 years of experience in producing professional business/technical communications for internal and public audiences. Experience working in or with international financing/international development organizations. Experience in building internal and external partnerships through strategic communication and engagement. Programme/project management experience in public health especially in the areas of HIV, tuberculosis, or malaria.

REMUNERATION

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 71,332 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 4161 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
