Colombia Country Office is looking for a Child Protection Specialist, L3,with experience in international development and/or humanitarian action, with focus on Child Protection issues, to provide technical guidance and management support throughout the programming process, especially on peace negotiations and the monitoring and reporting mechanism of the Security Council Resolution 1612 (MRM RSC 1612).

How can you make a difference?

The Child Protection Specialist reports to the Child Protection & Emergency  Specialist (P4) for guidance and general supervision. The Specialist supports the development and preparation of the Child Protection programme and is responsible for the management, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation of Transitional Justice, monitoring and reporting mechanism of the Security Council Resolution 1612 (MRM RSC 1612) and peacebuilding  within the country programme.
The strategic and effective advocacy, planning and formulation of child protection programmes/projects and the achievement of sustainable results, contributes to the achievement of goals and objectives to create a protective environment for children against harm, all forms of violence and ensures their survival, development and well being in society.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: International Development, Human Rights, Psychology, Sociology, International Law, or another relevant social science field. 
  • A minimum of five [5] years of relevant professional experience in social development planning and management in Child Protection related areas is required.
  • Experience in international development and/or humanitarian action, with focus on child protection issues specific experience in issues of transitional justice, peacebuilding and mechanism of the Security Council Resolution 1612 (MRM RSC 1612)..

  • Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.

  • Relevant experience in programme development in Child Protection related areas in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.

  • Experience in both development and humanitarian context is consideres as an added advantage. 

  • Fluency in Spanish and English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian ) will be an asset.
