Place in the Organisation:

The incumbent of this post is responsible to the Group Medical Insurance (GMI) Officer.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:

Administers the day-to-day operations of the Group Medical Insurance Plan (GMIP) contract and maintains documentations related to amendments, additions, and/or deletions of beneficiaries and their dependents; Responds to queries of staff and beneficiaries providing information, support and assistance on all matters related to the GMIP; In coordination with the GMI Officer, resolves complaints on admission cases as raised by staff and beneficiaries and recommends remedial actions on abuse cases. Acts as a focal point on such issues with the contracted insurance company, as assigned by the supervisor; Assists the GMI Officer in building knowledge of staff and beneficiaries through awareness campaigns on their medical coverage and claims process and provides written guidelines and clarifications, where necessary; Provides information required for the preparation of tendering for new medical insurance contracts ensuring that relevant medical requirements of staff and beneficiaries are reflected; In consultation with the GMI Officer:

-       Contributes to the development of local guidelines and procedures for the GMIP in Jordan, and follows up on adherence to contract terms;

-       Conducts, researches and prepares analysis on issues related to the GMI;

-       Supports the supervisors in the various GMIP meetings;

Verifies the monthly insurance payments (Agency and Staff premiums) of Jordan Field to ensure their accuracy and consistency with UNRWA standard procedures; Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor(s).

Minimum Qualifications:

A university degree in business, public administration, management or any other related discipline; Additional course work and practical training in insurance claims and contracts management. Three years of experience in a related function, preferably in supervising medical insurance contracts in an international, governmental or commercial organization, including• one year in Human Resources; Experience in using various Microsoft Applications such as Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint, database and other applications. Good command of written and spoken Arabic and English.

Other Information

The incumbent will be required to work beyond normal duty hours.

Equivalency:

When the minimum requirements are not fully met, the concerned Director may exceptionally substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualifications, additional professional training and progressive relevant work experience.

NB: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered an acceptable combination.
