Organizational Setting
FAO Ethiopia, in support of the Government of Ethiopia, has developed the project entitled “Support the Government of Ethiopia to enhance food security information, national social protection and disaster risk management systems” (in short\: ProAct). The overarching goal is to contribute towards cost-effective, resilient and sustainable food security and nutrition solutions for the vulnerable households living in pastoral areas. The project encompasses three components\: (i) Institutionalization of the Integrated Phase Classification (IPC), (ii) DRM mainstreaming into the agricultural sector and coordination between the federal and regional levels, and (iii) support to the national productive safety nets programme (PSNP). To implement the component (ii), and in coordination with colleagues involved in the other components, FAO Ethiopia is hiring a DRM Information Management and Communication Officer.
 
Reporting Lines
Under the overall guidance of the FAO Representative (FAOR), the technical supervision of the International DRM Consultant, the direct supervision of the National DRM Coordinator and in close technical and administrative relation with other colleagues of FAO Ethiopia, the DRM Information Management and Communication Officer will perform the tasks below.
 
Technical Focus
Coordinate all activities related to information management and communication of the ProAct project.
 
Tasks and responsibilities
 
  • Support the International DRM Consultant to engage regional and federal stakeholders in consultation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Resources (MoALR)
  • Monitoring of project component outputs, including regular field monitoring visits of project activities and partner organizations
  • Preparation of all project reports and communication material in a timely manner
  • Maintain and coordinate effective linkages between different stakeholders involved in the agriculture sector at federal and regional levels in coordination with the DRM component manager
  • Support the facilitation of workshops and meetings for DRM awareness raising and capacity building in coordination with MoALR, including learning events of the projects at the regional level
  • Provide inputs for effective communication with stakeholders
  • Perform other duties as required.
     
    CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
    Minimum Requirements\:
  • University degree in related fields such as information management, communication or related subjects;
  • Five years of experience in implementation, monitoring and coordination of projects related to information management and communication;
  • Relevant experience in awareness raising and capacity building for information management and communication
  • Very good knowledge of English
  • Nationals of Ethiopia

    Selection Criteria\:
  • Experience in information management and communication capacity building
  • Experience in facilitating trainings
  • Experience in coordination
  • Practical experience in IM planning, managing and executing complex projects
  • Strong communication, writing and presentation skills in English
  • Knowledge of UN and/or EU procedures will be an advantage
