Project Goal : To lead and manage livelihood initiatives in weaving and allied activities for the economic empowerment of rural women in the three above mentioned north eastern states, thereby building their social and cultural rights, through sustainable livelihoods.
Key ResponsabilitÃ©s (Indicative):
The primary responsibility of the Project Director will include:
â¢ To manage and provide direction and leadership towards the implementation of the project activities, from substantive, administrative and financial points of view, applying strategic planning and systematic coordination of project activities within the three states.
â¢ Providing proposals and liaising in developing work plans, design and diversification of products , production plans, procurement, training, performance evaluation system, logistics, budgeting and disbursements.
â¢ In close collaboration with the local authorities, national institutions and organisations, organize training activities , courses and exposures at all levels on weaving technology, livelihood, designs training, production planning, pricing and inventory management and in accordance with the annual work plans.
â¢ To ensure timely preparation and compilation of the project and financial reports and its submission to various statutory authorities as well as to the donor organization.
â¢ To ensure supervision of the Project personnel and ensure effective communication and coordination amongst offices, staff, weavers and others in all the said three states of north-east India and undertake field visit in the rural areas.
â¢ To ensure establishment and maintenance of proper electronic and manual records for effective documentation of the entire project cycle which includes reports, stock, weavers database, catalogues, designs, promos, markets, finances, etc.
â¢ To design and implement marketing and sale strategies for promoting the handloom and handcrafted products.
â¢ Overall responsibility to ensure compliances related to donor organization.
Essential qualifications and experience
â¢ Post Graduate Degree in MBA/Professional degree/diploma in Rural Livelihoods/Designs from a recognized institute.
â¢ Minimum 3 years post qualification experience in managing livelihood activities (preferably in weaving), handling projects relating to social sector, exposure in grants related projects esp. on livelihood.
â¢ Experience of working with grassroots livelihood organizations in the north east region will be preferable.
â¢ Knowledge of FCRA and other compliance procedures are desirable.
â¢ Must have experience of using Internet based applications, using and working with MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point and other related applications.
â¢ Ability and willingness to travel and live in challenging conditions.

Duration, location and nature of appointment
The appointment will be for 3 years, subject to probationary period and satisfactory performance and extendable as necessary to reflect ultimate completion date of the project.
The PD will work from Guwahati/Shillong/Kohima and travel as required to the other two States and wider region, as required.
Depending on qualification, experience and competency of the candidate, the salary is negotiable.
Fluency in English and knowledge of any one regional local language of Meghalaya/ Assam/ Nagaland are required.
