OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

Unitaid is a multilateral partnership hosted by the World Health Organization. Unitaid is focused on making a unique and impactful contribution to the global response against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria in developing countries. It catalyzes improvements for the larger response through forward-looking and time-limited investments to increase access to better, more effective and more affordable health products (i.e. preventatives, medicines and diagnostics). These investments typically target market-based interventions such as price reductions, improvements in quality and supply, and the introduction of innovative products more suitable for the populations in need.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the incumbent provides advice on resource mobilization and innovative financing, including shy; Leading the design,development and implementation of Unitaid's Resource Mobilization Strategy;shy; Development of a generic advocacy document aimed at showcasing impact and results of the organization; shy; Develops forward-looking strategic proposals and analysis on resource mobilization;shy; Coordinating and facilitating resource mobilization across the Unitaid Secretariat; managing donor relationships together with concerned units, especially the External Relations Unit and coordinate day-to-day contact with donors; facilitating the promotion of cooperation agreement strategies and operational alliances with donors and the private sector;shy; Production of targeted profiles for current and potential new donors, and elaboration of donor-specific investments cases;shy; Coordinate the processes of donor reviews and reporting;shy; Leads Unitaid's efforts in innovative financing;shy; Identification of key potential new donors according to pre-defined set of criteria (e.g. involvement in global health; priority given to HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria; ease of access to key stakeholders);shy; Reviews and analyzes information and prepares reports/documents on activities related to funding partners and fund raising;shy; Prepare policy and analytical briefs for the Chief of Staff on strategic partnerships and resource mobilization issues;- Designs and develops tools for consultations with the donor community,shy; individually and collectively;shy; Creates an action plan detailing required actions and a high-level timeline of implementation of the Resource Mobilization effort for each targeted donor; shy; Liaising with existing and potential donors, foundations and private sector representatives, with a view to achieving significant increases in the overall funding to Unitaid; shy; Liaising with contributing donors in coordination with External Relations Unit.shy; Keep abreast of latest trends, news and events the resource mobilization area;shy; Writing of technical proposal documents, awareness-raising brochures, donor profiles, plans of engagement, aimed at securing long-term sustainable funding for Unitaid; shy; Liaising with the Communications Unit in producing promotional material;shy; Leading and motivating the resource mobilization team shy; Undertake other assignments as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential\: Master degree in social science, international relations, or business.
Desirable\: Other degree in one of the above relevant fields.

Experience

Essential\: --> Minimum 10 years of national and international experience in resource mobilization. --> Experience in successful fundraising with the public/private sector, foundations and governmental sources.--> Experience writing promotional material for fundraising and proposals. --> Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing resource mobilization strategies.--> Demonstrated supervisory experience.
Desirable\: --> Understanding the global health agenda on ending HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria. --> Work experience with WHO, another United Nations organization, or any other international organization working in the field of public health would be an asset.

Skills

--> Ability to produce strategic documents, such as a generic advocacy document, targeted profiles for current and potential new donors, donor-specific investments cases.--> Proven capacity to analyze and explain innovative financing.--> Knowledge of financial mechanisms for non-budget contributions from donor countries.--> Excellent writing and communication skills. --> Ability to think creatively and in a proactive manner.

REMUNERATION

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 85,543 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 5211 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
