The Finance Group (FG) is a critical and strategic business function in UNOPS and serves as an authoritative and integrated partner in the organization on strategic financial planning and budgeting, business strategy and practices, financial analysis and risk assessment, financial management services and long term organizational treasury and investments.  As the steward of resources of a self-financing UN entity, FG is accountable for timely cost recovery and reporting to partners, maintaining the integrity and transparency of financial management of resources in accordance with the highest standards of ethics and organizational/international accountability framework and the accurate and transparent financial reporting to governing bodies, clients, partners and stakeholders.

Since UNOPS took control of all Banking & Treasury functions in early 2016, the organization has been building a stronger and more sustainable finance structure to support UNOPS projects worldwide.

In line with the organization’s vision and commitment towards cost and operational efficiency, a series of banking agreements with international financial institutions have been put in place to ensure timely and appropriate cash management for all stakeholders.

Functional Responsibilities

The ERP Banking Developer reports directly  to the Senior Developer, UNOPS ICT team, with overall supervision and guidance from the Head of Treasury of the Finance Group. The role contributes to the finance vision of being a true business partner to UNOPS treasury projects, by implementing the H2H & TMS project

1.   Develop ERP - banking interfaces

  • Receive and review requirements from banks on setup of H2H connectivity and each Payment type;
  • Agree and coordinate encryption and transfer methodologies with banking partner in conjunction with ICT colleagues;
  • Implement the XML file to be transferred to the bank;
  • Create test payments and coordinate testing with the bank, including penny testing;
  • Analyse supplier data requirements and coordinate with Supplier/Vendor team the required adjustments on their banking data;
  • Coordinate and test MT940 Bank statement integration with banking partner’s integration team;
  • Coordinate roll out to PROTO/Production with Deployment team in ICT;
  • Analyses, designs, coordinates and develops detailed technical specifications and translates them into solutions
  • Develops new modules / functionality within existing systems
  • Develops appropriate reports within business applications or within UNOPS reporting applications in coordination with ICT Reporting and Database Developers

2. Performs technical review and testing

  • Analyses, designs, coordinates and develops detailed technical specifications and translates them into solutions
  • Ensures optimal performance and usability of applications by adhering to established and evolving architectural standards developed by the Enterprise Architecture and Platforms team;
  • Performs technical testing of existing and new functionality and when upgrades / patches are applied
  • Assists the Testing and Quality Assurance team in troubleshooting anomalies, understanding impacts and identifying solutions to bugs or gaps in functionality
  • Adequately documents all work activities, including code specifications and test plans.

  • Contributes ideas, concerns and suggested approaches during technical design sessions;
  • Contributes to the specification of banking interfaces, ensuring high functionality and adaptability standards are met;
  • Stays up to date with emerging technologies and where appropriate, advocates for their consideration

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education: 

  • A bachelors university degree (preferably in computer science, information technology and information systems) is required. 
  • A masters degree may substitute some of the required years of experience.
Experience: 

  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience in banking H2H integrations
  • Good knowledge and understanding of enterprise data integration, data quality and data translation is required
  • Knowledge of SQL to run select sentences and create views is required
  • Good knowledge and understanding of XML schemas is required
  • Knowledge of encryption procedures (PGP), communication protocols (sFTP) and file transfers through WinSCP would be a distinct advantage
  • Experience with working within large and complex enterprise IT environments would be a distinct advantage
  • Knowledge of the ISO20022 for payments and SWIFT MT940 would be an advantage
Language requirements:
  • Full working knowledge of English is essential.
  • Knowledge of another official UNOPS language is an asset
