At WFP, we are looking for motivated Site Maintenance Assistants to support the United Nations Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS) operations in Kadugli, Ed Daein, El Obeid and Damazine to be hired on a Service Contract at the SC-1 level

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

The Site Maintenance Assistant (unhas) works under the overall supervision of the Head of Sub Office and the direct supervision of the Aviation Associate to provide baggage and cargo handling assistance to WFP passengers and other clients. The Site Maintenance Assistant is responsible for the following duties:

  • Assists in baggage handling activities such as storing passengers’ baggage according to destination for identification prior to loading into the aircraft and storing unclaimed baggage and notifying baggage owners;
  • Assists the check-in staff at the terminal by weighing and tagging passenger baggage;
  • Loads well tagged passenger baggage on the baggage cart;
  • Checks passenger baggage to ensure that it is properly secured and that it doesn’t contain any good or substances that may cause damage to the baggage of other passenger and to the aircraft;
  • Loads and offloads passenger baggage to/from aircraft and vehicles;
  • Places cones and ropes around aircraft aimed at ensuring passenger safety during boarding and disembarking;
  • Guides passengers to the security screening post in the airport terminal;
  • Assists in weighing and labelling of cargo in preparation for transportation;
  • Assists the Cargo Assistant with delivery of inbound cargo to consignees;
  • Cleans the working environment and the surroundings and ensures cleanliness and tidiness of the terminal and hangar at all times;
  • Ensures that they are easily identified ease of identification by passengers and air terminal staff by wearing appropriate airside clothing.


  • This vacancy is open to qualified Sudanese Nationals Only;
  • Completion of secondary school education is an asset;
  • At one year of experience in transportation services. Experience in supporting airside services is desirable;
  • Intermediate knowledge of written and spoken English and Fluent written and spoken Arabic.
