Project Overview:

The Prague Process is an intergovernmental migration dialogue featuring 50 states of the European Union, Schengen Area, Eastern Partnership, Western Balkans, Central Asia, Russiaand Turkey. Since its establishing in 2009, the Prague Process has engaged in gathering and sharing various data on migrationand asylumthroughitsKnowledgebase,mainlybysupportingthePragueProcessstatesin the elaboration of their Migration Profiles (Light). Moreover, a number of visualisations and an interactiveonlinemapwerecreatedandvariousexpert-leveleventsorganised. During the3 MinisterialConferencein2016, theparticipatingstatesagreedto establishthe Prague Process Migration Observatory in order to furtherenhance information sharing among the Parties and better inform policy makers and experts in their decisions. The Migration Observatory was

established by means of the “Prague Process: Dialogue, Analysesand Training in Action”initiative, funded by the European Union, and implemented by ICMPD in its capacity of Prague Process Secretariat.

The Migration Observatory aims to provide impartial, evidence-based analysis from across the PragueProcessregionandinlinewiththesixthematicareassetoutbythePragueProcessActionPlan. All results and publications will be developedand published in English and Russian languages. The MigrationObservatoryshallserveasalaboratoryforgeneratingofnewprojectandcooperationideas withinthePragueProcessandMobilityPartnershipFacility(MPF).

1Job Description:

In 2019, the Migration Observatory is launching its second Internship for young professionals and students from the Prague Process participating states. The internship offers an opportunity to practically engage into the work of the PragueProcess and thus contribute to the very development of the MigrationObservatory.Inthis way,the internshallnot onlyincreasehis/herunderstandingof the core migration areas but also get an insight into the roles and responsibilities of the key actors involvedinanintergovernmentalmigrationdialogue.

Theinternshipwillmainlyfocusondevelopingandfurtherstrengtheningtheanalytical,organisational and communicationskillsoftheselectedintern.Itshallalsohelptounleashtheintern’spotentialand creativityconcerningthepresentationandappealingvisualisationofmigrationdata. Tasks and Responsibilities:

HostedatthePragueProcessSecretariatatICMPDHeadquartersinVienna,theinternwillworkclosely with the Project Officer and under the overall supervision of the Project Manager of the ‘Prague Process:Dialogue,AnalysesandTraininginAction’initiative.

The intern will be responsible fora variety of assignments supporting the implementation of the MigrationObservatoryandthePragueProcessas awhole.

Amongothers,theinternwillberesponsiblefor:

Gathering and analysing migration-related dataon the Prague Process states,to be used for theelaborationofnationalmigrationfactsheets;

Conductingresearchonimportantmigrationrelateddevelopmentsintheregion; Monitoringthemediawiththeaimto establishbi-weeklymediareports;

Producingmigrationdatavisualisationsandinfographics;

Assistingwiththewebsiteandsocialmediacontentmanagement;

Supportingthepreparationofactivitiesinlinewiththerelevantrulesandprocedures; Otherdutiesasrequired.

Qualificationsand Experience:

RecentgraduatesofaMaster’s degree(orcurrentlyenrolled)withafocusonmigration; Experience (academic of professional) in performing research and analysis on migration, preferablywithafocusonthePost-SovietspaceorEasternEurope;

Knowledgeof global migration trends; knowledge of the European Union migration policy is an asset;

Goodanalyticalanddraftingskills,includingtheabilitytopreparereports,backgroundpapers, fact sheets,presentations,etc.;

Knowledgeofdatacollection,analysisandmanagementmethodsisanadvantage;

Strong computerproficiency (especially Microsoft Word and Excel) and knowledgeof other programmesorsoftware(datavisualisation,databasemanagement,datamapping);

Good workingknowledgeofEnglishandRussian(spokenandwritten)isrequired; Ability to work effectively with colleagues from different cultural and professional backgrounds;

Good organisationalskills;

Excellentinterpersonalandcommunicationskills.

2Compensation:

ICMPDoffersamonthlyfeeofEUR500,00, and willprovideaccidentinsuranceforthedurationofthe internship.Additionally,travelexpenses(returnflightticket)to/fromViennawillbeprovidedtothose candidatesfromoutsideAustria.

Healthinsuranceistheresponsibilityoftheincumbent.

TheinternshipdoesnotconstituteacommitmenttofutureemploymentwithICMPD.
