Background Information - Job-specific

1.   PRODUCTION

  • To edit and produce a multimedia content (video, audio and print) as well as a television and radio programs, magazine, PSAs and newsletters and external news paper maintaining high creative and professional standard. Able to write engaging scripts, deliver high impact content, as well as do own interviews and reports.
  • Be willing to present or perform at the microphone and video camera as and when needed, in studio, on-location and in the field.
  • Evaluate and respond to feedback from stakeholders, colleagues and the audience at large in form of letters, SMS or email.
  • Be willing and able to contribute to the ministry’s newsletter, news paper and magazine.
  • Be able to frame and write effective press releases to the broader media and help the directorate with tasks of media relations, if needed.
  • Conceptualize and produce high impact, creative PSAs (public Service Announcements)
  • Supply content to Federal; Ministry of Health website, reflecting key achievements of program and strategy
  • Provide mentoring and capacity building, as and when needed, for Ministry of Health Communications Officers
  • Able to use a range of video and audio digital equipment recording and editing in the widely used software to the highest professional standards. (if necessary training will be given.)
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of the National Health Development plan, public media editorial values and ability to put the same into practice
  • Be responsible for efficient and cost-effective use of allocated resources and production budgets
  • Be willing to take on new or different roles, as required
  • Maintain regular and clear communication with the public relations Director. Monitor and evaluate media impact and inform results to the Directorate.

2.      ADMINISTRATION

  • Understand simple budgeting and keep track of expenditure
  • Pass on all necessary documents relating to broadcast output to relevant Documentation staff in the Ministry.
  • The producer will be required to save document both soft and hard copies of each output in the directorate documentation center for further use.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

B.A or M.A in Journalism and Communications, Language studies and international Relations and or communication related profession. Applicants need to have six years of experience for Bachelors Degree and four years experience in video audio editing training with relevant work experience with media organizations or broadcasters.

Languages

  • Fluency in written and oral English and Amharic  is required.
