Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (national position)

Malteser International currently supports a food security project in Muyinga and a child protection project in Bujumbura, both implemented by a local partner organization. In the past, MI has collaborated with several local partner organizations in the sectors of health, mental health, child protection and WASH.

Responsibilities:

• Support planning and design of project activities with local partner organization(s)
• Monitoring and evaluation of the progress of project activities by the local partner organization(s), including field visits
• Supervise the administration, finance and logistics of the partner organization to ensure appropriate record keeping and adherence to Malteser International’s and Donor administrative, finance and procurement procedures and guidelines
• When needed: Develop staff capacity of local partner organizations
• When applicable: Preparation and writing of proper and timely project reports adhering to donor and Malteser standards
• Preparation of monthly report and monthly cashbook; filing of receipts of Malteser International
• Provide material for PR and Communications such as photos, human-interest stories, etc.
• Ensure regular communication with HQ in Cologne and Regional Office in Kampala
• Represent program activities and Malteser International towards coordination mechanisms
• Assist the line manager in fulfilling other project implementation relevant tasks as required in the office and during field visits

Qualifications:

• University degree in Agricultural Economics, Social work, Development studies or related fields
• Two years of relevant experience working with NGOs
• Working experience in administration
• Working experience in the sector of food security and/or child protection would be an asset
• Very high level of self-sufficiency
• Able to work to the highest standards against tight deadlines
• Excellent written and spoken French and Kirundi; high level of English

Conditions:

• Starting date: 01.04.2019
• Duty Station: Bujumbura, Burundi, with regular travels to Muyinga
• Please note that Malteser International does not have an office in Burundi and the Partner support and Monitoring Consultant is requested to work from home.
• Duration of contract: 9 months
• Type of contract: part-time (50%)
• Salary: 150€ - 250€ per month (object to experience and skills of the applicant)
