DFID Grants Adviser

Salary: GBP 36,000 to GBP 38,000 inclusive of ILW

Would you like to become part of the world's largest humanitarian network?  Are you passionate about improving the quality and impact of humanitarian programmes? Do you have experience of developing and managing complex DFID grants and contracts including Payment by Results (PbR)? Are you motivated by working on innovative programmes with potential for impact at scale? Are you able to negotiate with donors and fund managers to ensure the best outcome for affected populations? The British Red Cross (BRC) are looking to recruit a DFID Grants Adviser as part of the Performance and Accountability Department.

The DFID Strategic Partnership and Programmes team play a critical role supporting our new five year International Strategy and meeting our responsibilities as the humanitarian auxiliary to the British government. We are seeking someone with exceptional analytical, project management, grant and contract management and negotiation skills. Ideally with experience in international development and working with a range of DFID, UK Aid and institutional donor grants and contracts - including PbR.

This is a new, exciting and influential role with a blend of strategic, systemic and creative demands and responsibilities including:

* Supporting development and implementation of the BRC - DFID / UK Aid engagement plan including representation of BRC as required
* Co-ordination with allocated regional, country and technical teams across the international directorate enhancing awareness of DFID/UK Aid approaches and quality of engagement
* Acting as primary focal point within the DFID team regarding DFID / UK Aid compliance and due diligence demands including contracting and PbR
* Working with programme, technical teams, country offices and partners to identify early information on DFID / UK Aid opportunities relevant to BRC's international strategy  
* Identify and coordinate development of proposals, with a focus on complex and strategic opportunities, to DFID / UK Aid in coordination with BRC and International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent partners, programme, finance and compliance teams
* Support management of grants and contracts awarded by DFID as appropriate

The role is located in BRC's DFID Strategic Partnership and Programmes team within the Performance & Accountability (P&A) Department. This role reports directly to the DFID Strategic Partnership Manager and will be based in our London office (UKO).
