ABOUT WFP

WFP’s Global Strategic Plan 2017–2021 aligns WFP with the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and Goals (SDGs). It focuses on ending hunger and contributing to a revitalized global partnership to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Further extensive consultation with the Government and other development partners in Egypt during the second half of 2017 to allow informing and formulating the WFP Egypt Country Strategic Plan for the next 5 years until mid-2023 in line with Egypt’s development priorities, the WFP Egypt Country Office has started implementing the Country Strategic Plan (CSP). The focus of the CSP remains on support to school meals and nutrition support for Pregnant and Lactating Women as integrated part of the national social protection scheme, food assistance for assets and resilience-promotion for smallholder farmers and support to vulnerable Syrian refugees and migrants. To sustain those planned interventions, WFP will be conducting joint monitoring activities with Government representatives of key line Ministries to enforce the concepts of participation, transparency and accountability to its partners. In addition, capacity development activities will be provided to national counterparts and cooperating partners to ensure efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability and raising their capacity to conduct monitoring at the local level.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

These jobs are found in Headquarters (HQ), Regional Bureaux (RBs) or Country Offices (COs) and job holders report to a more senior Programme Policy Officer.
Job holders are likely to be working under the close support and guidance of a more experienced professional staff member receiving guidance and regular feedback on work performed. They are typically involved in programme or policy activities or similar nature and analytical work of limited complexity. 

JOB PURPOSE

To provide support to policy and programme activities that effectively meet food assistance needs.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Advanced University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, international development assistance, or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.

Language: Fluency (level C) in English language and the duty station’s language, if different

Required year of experience: At least five years of postgraduate progressively responsible professional experience in international development, or other related fields

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  1. Conduct detailed training on the proposed Livelihoods Program strategy and implementation plan for Refugees & Migrants
  2. Ensure that linkages are made between the small and medium enterprise (SME) development and market linkage programs and the refugees.
  3. Ensure that project activities and outputs are implemented in a timely manner.

  6. To technically mentor and supervise Assistant Food Security Officers working under his supervision as well as carry out Staff performance
  7. Ensure high quality reports are submitted in a timely manner and work closely with the project officer to ensure reports meet donor requirements.
  8. Establish transparent relationships with all partners including identification of their priorities, concerns and managing expectations in regard to livelihoods interventions.
  9. Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the livelihoods activities.
  10. Break down the annual operational plans into weekly, monthly and quarterly implementation plans.
  11. Ensure that procurement, development and distribution of materials and equipment are timely and according to procedures.
  12. To assist the project manager in the identification of new projects and new areas of intervention. Coordinate trainings for women empowerment, including trainings on food processing and micro-credit activities as part of the livelihood activities.
