Expert Forecast based Financing & Actions, Part-Time (50%) (m/f)
in Bonn
The position is to be filled as soon as possible with a contract duration of one year. The place of work will be Bonn, Germany.
The aim of the position is to strengthen and sharpen the work of Welthungerhilfe (WHH) in the fields of Forecast based Financing (FbF ) and Forecast based Actions (FbA).
Your responsibilities
Forecast based Financing - FbF
- In coordination with the project management, support for the implementation of the project "Development and Introduction of replicable standard procedures (SOP) for forcast-based financing in drought relief using the example of Madagascar" (including project administrative tasks)
- Support of the application and implementation of further FbF projects or initiatives of WHH
- Support for the concept development on how to replicate experience from Madagascar
- Research, analysis and evaluation of other forcast based financing mechanisms in humanitarian aid
- Support in the preparation of statements, position and conference papers or publications, etc.
- Participation and representation of WHH at relevant FbF meetings, seminars, conference and dialogue platforms as well as reporting on the essential contents
Forecast based Actions - FbA
- Support the coordination Crises Monitoring and Emergency Response
- Taking over Humanitarian Directorate (HD) tasks in the context of risk-based programming by country offices, in particular in relation to risk analysis
- Compilation of thematic briefings and best practices
- Support of HD networking and the completion of corresponding tasks including organisational and administrative todos
- Support in positioning WHH in the fields of FbF / FbA / Anticipation / Early Warning Early Action (EWEA)
- Participation and representation of WHH at FbA / EWEA conferences, seminars, forums as well as reporting on essenttial contents
Your profile
- University or polytechnic degree (e.g. NOHA, Disaster Risk Reduction, Disaster Risk Management, etc.)
- Proven competence and experience in one or more areas of Humanitarian Aid, Disaster Risk Reduction, Disaster Risk Management, Climate Change Adaptation as well as relevant topics such as FbF oder FbA
- One to three years of professional experience
- Experience in the conception and drafting of project proposals, reports and technical texts
- Know-how in information and knowledge management as well as in networking and presentation on a national and international level
- Experience in administration and organization
- Experience abroad is an advantage
- Good communication skills in English, in French desirable
