Scope of Work

Brief description of the position’s role within the Project(s):

The Recreational Facilitator will be responsible for leading guided activities for children in the CDC selected and other administrative activities.

Position objectives:

·Use child-cantered in their approaches, share life-saving information and provide a safe environment for playing, socializing and learning according to established schedules and routines.

·Keep accurate records of children daily attendance as per.

Who this position reports to:

The Recreational Facilitator will report to the Child Protection Officer.The facilitator will also receive support, supervision and advice from the IRC Protection Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·Attend trainings organized by the IRC

·Adhere to the IRC Code of Conduct every day – in the CDC and in the community

·Come to the CDC every day prepared to engage in positive way with children

·Take children’s attendance for each session

·Lead activities based on the IRC curricula agreed with the Protection Manager

·Observe children with special needs and ensure they are well integrated into the activities and if needed refer them to relevant services

·Answer questions from community members and parents about what activities for children are taking place in the CDC.

·Attend special information sessions planned for community members and parents

·Help in setting schedules for daily/weekly activities for children

·Ensure that all children are safe from harm

·Ensure the space in the CDC dedicated for activities with children is always clean and organised, in order to be ready every day to receive children. This includes cleaning the space at the end of each day and re organise toys, etc. to ensure it is a healthy environment for the children

·Refer identified and suspected child protection cases to Child Protection Caseworker

·Report supply/material needs to the Child Protection Officer

·Support M&E activities as requested to support quality programming

Professional Standards

·All Recreational Facilitators are required to adhere to THE IRC Way Standards for Professional Conduct and the IRC country employment policies.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to read and write in Arabic language.
  • Previous experience in teaching or assisting children, especially those below the age of 10 years old
  • Well respected by the community  

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The Facilitator is expected to be present at the CDC every day.9 hours, etc.
