Job Description

Major Responsibilities:The Psychosocial Support (PSS) case worker is responsible for the daily implementation and direction of activities provided in the women and girls safe space. The PSS case worker will be responsible for the daily implementation of activities and monitoring to ensure that all activities provided are appropriate. The PSS case worker reports directly to the WPE Officer.

Furthermore the PSS case worker will use child-centered in their approaches, provide a safe environment for playing and socializing according to established schedules and routines.

Key Responsibilities:

·The PSS case worker will be in charge of conducting periodic assessments with women and girls to continuously understand activities that are relevant and motivate women to sit together and discuss

· The PSS case worker will plan and organize daily and weekly plans for PSS, educational, and recreational activities for women. 

·Conduct regular assessments and focus group discussions for women and adolescent girls to understand which activities match their needs. 

·Ensure daily reporting of attendance per activity and ensure that the data collected is accurate

·The PSS case worker is also responsible for ensuring and scheduling of the weekly activities provided in line with the suggestions and needs and requests from that women and girls

·Lead basic recreational activities for children based on schedule

·Observe children with special needs and ensure they are well integrated into the activities and if needed refer them to relevant services

·The Assistant should regularly update the WPE Officer on potential new activities

Reporting:

·Compile and weekly monthly reports to provide information on activities conducted, topics discussed, challenges, faced

·Ensure that the activity attendance is accurately captured and double counting eliminated on  daily basis

· With support from the WPE Officer conduct monthly feedback sessions with women and girls who participate in the different activities to understand the benefits of the activities in their lives, challenges and what can be improved

Other:

·Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IRC programs

Key Working Relationships:

Position Reports to: Protection Officer

Indirect Reporting:  Protection Manager

Other Internal and/or external contacts: reporting and Information Assistant. 

Qualifications

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

·Should be compassionate, caring, and non-judgmental

·The be in position to maintain confidentiality

·Should be highly creative and innovative 

·Strong planning, organizational and supervisory skills

·Positive, highly motivated, innovative, with strong organizational and inter-personal skills.

·Strong counseling and case management skills, with ability to communicate effectively with different types of people and handle conflict or stress in a calm and constructive manner

·Previous experience managing projects in complex emergencies as well as ability to supervise and support teams

·High level of adaptability with a strong capacity for learning new skills and subjects

·Positive and professional attitude, including ability to work well in a team setting

·Computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Excel

Education:Bachelor of Arts or Science in Social Work, Psychology, or other related field. Minimum of 1 years of relevant work experience in counseling, social work, psychosocial support, promotion of women’s and/or family well-being.
