Job Description

Major Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Child Protection Manager, the Child Protection Case Workers will be responsible for the following major activities:
•Responsible for the overall technical and administrative oversight of child protection case management services within the assigned Payams.
•Provide individual case management for children in the allocated location in accordance with all case management steps and related tools and procedures, including:
•Registration and intake
•Assessments of individual case and if necessary care arrangements, including best interest of the child
•Individual counselling and PSS support
•Case planning and referrals
•Home visiting and case follow up
•Supporting child survivors as needed
•Ensuring there are child friendly reporting mechanisms in place across all IRC services
•Coordinate with CPIMS Officer to ensure children records, data are timely recorded in the CPIMS database and update the physical files regularly.
•Complete registration forms for data entry into CPIMS or directly into CPIMS depending on technology availability
•Produce timely progress reports, including both quantitative and qualitative information on child protection activities and input into regular situation reports, weekly, monthly and quarterly.
•Directly communicate effectively with IRC colleagues and other service providers as part of conducting individual case management.
•Attend any multidisciplinary case conferencing as needed for complex cases that require technical expertise in child protection as well as another disciplines and in accordance with confidentiality and best practice for informed consent.
•Supervise the Safe Healing and Learning Space and provide technical support for the facilitators.
•Work closely with the Child protection help desk Focal points in schools and health facilities and OTPs.
•Liaise with local leadership regarding child protection issues to be addressed at community level.
•Identify and support new or establish community based Child Protection mechanism/structure.
•Assist the child protection manager in coordination of IRC program, activities and staff.
•Design a capacity building strategy for community based child protection structures  in applied child rights and protection
•Coordinate with other agencies relating to interagency Child Protection issues arising
•Liaise with local leadership regarding Child protection issues to be addressed at community level.
•Engaging with local community leaders (chiefs / Payam administrators) regarding community based child protection interventions and actions.
•Coordinate with other IRC sectors staff (e.g.) Health, Nutrition and Livelihoods at the field level and mainstream child protection in other sectors.
•Perform any other duties as requested by

Position directly supervises:  Child protection Community Volunteers and SHLS Facilitators
Other Internal and/or external contacts:
CPIMS/M&E Officer, Child Protection Focal Points from Community Child Protection Committees, and Child Protection Help Desk Focal Points. 

Qualifications

Education: Diploma is required; in social work, Sociology, human rights, Psychology or related profession strongly preferred.

Work Experience: Minimum of 2 year progressive experience working with children; Must live in the community for which he/she is applying to work in; Should be able to write a report in English; Should be able to work with minimal supervision; Should be able to plan his/her work daily; Should be a team player; Should have good communication skills and Should be flexible.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:Remains productive when under pressure; Demonstrates a systematic and efficient approach to work; Works collaboratively with team members to achieve results; Relates and works well with people of different cultures, gender and backgrounds.

Language Skills:

Excellent communication skills, and writing of concise reports in English and the local language
