OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

To collaborate with the Government of Indonesia and relevant stakeholders within the framework of Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS) in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of national health policies, strategies and plans, and developing and managing WHO's technical cooperation programmes at the country level. Within the framework of CCS, the incumbent will liaise with specific departments in the Ministry of Health and related academic/research institutes and partners for achieving the objectives of WHO-Government of Indonesia collaborative programmes, specifically the NTDs at country level.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the direct supervision of Technical Officer (MAL & VBDC) the incumbent will provide support to LF/STH/Schistosomiasis, Leprosy/Yaws, and Arboviruses control programmes by performing the following specific duties\:

1.  Provide technical support to the national counterparts in planning and implementation of national roadmaps for NTDs; 

2.  Monitor the implementation of Transmission Assessment Survey (TAS) for spot check and sentinel site survey for LF;

3.  Assist national LF/STH/Schistosomiasis programme in planning and implementation of the Mass Drugs Administration (MDA) of LF in October and Schistosomiasis in March every year until 2020 and ensure availability of PCT drugs for each MDA activity;

4.  Assist national Leprosy/Yaws programme in the implementation of national campaign of leprosy elimination and implementation of Yaws serological survey and their related advocacy activities;

5.  Assist national Arbovirus programme in strengthening the surveillance system and capacity building for dengue case management; 

6.  Assist national NTD Programmes in developing Joint Application Package (JAP), Annual Leprosy Report, etc.;

7.  Serve as resource person during planning, other trainings, workshops, and monitoring and evaluation meetings related to NTDs;

8.  Assist the NTDs programme in finalizing draft national policies such as Ministerial Decree and roadmaps; 

9.  Assist in preparation of progress reports for donor-funded project;

10.  Perform any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential\: University degree in Medicine or health-related sciences
Desirable\: Advanced degree in public Health and/or epidemiology or related fields with additional training in NTDs.

Experience

Essential\: At least two years of relevant work experiences in the field of public health, preferably in control of NTDs.
Desirable\: Good understanding about strategic plans at national/regional/global levels on NTD elimination/eradication, would be an asset.

Skills

- Expertise in public health, project management in priority communicable diseases, including neglected tropical diseases, and good understanding of the country-specific needs.- Sound technical knowledge in epidemiology and eradication/elimination aspects of disease programmes.- Ability to make evidence-based decision on implementation of interventions.- Technical expertise and Overall attitude at work are also required mandatory competencies.

Other skills\: Proficiency in computer, Microsoft office applications and presentation skills.

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at IDR 516,743,000 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
