UNICEF Cambodia is looking for national interns to join our Child Protection Section for a period of 3 months in 2019. UNICEF began providing assistance to Cambodia in 1952 and has been working since then to improve the wellbeing of Cambodian children. We are now looking for interns to contribute to our team for a period of 3 months in 2019. We offer supervision, access to information, engaging working environment and the possibility to work FOR EVERY CHILD.

How can you make a difference?

The students will work under the direct supervision of Child Protection Officer, and supported by the Child Protection Team at central level, to undertake the following tasks:

  • Involve in the process of developing business case on social work and advocacy plan for its adoption.
  • Participate in develop training strategy and package on child protection and its actual trainings.
  • Contribute to the development of national case management policy and procedures, including its operationalization.
  • Engage in the process of development of a capacity development plan and trainings for the staff of the Child Welfare Department
  • Participate in the training activities related to case management (which include case filing, family tracing and assessment, family reunification, and follow up), alternative care.
  • Participate and support the trainings for DOSVY and OSVY staff nationwide on the use of the revised case management forms.
  • Engage and contribute to the process of development of a quality assurance system for social service work (that includes licensing and accreditation, code of ethics, supervision and support of social workers)
  • Provide written reports with feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of the child protection activities implemented. In addition, the student will be asked to support the identification and writing of human interest stories.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

To qualify as an intern for every child you will have

  • Year 4 social work student, completing bachelor degree in social work.
  • Be a top level student
  • Both male and female students
  • Demonstrated interest in social work and child protection
  • In addition to good English, excellent communication skills and solid analytical skills- strong commitment and passion for UNICEF’s mission.

Duration of the assignment

  • Desired role period 3 months, Mon - Fri (full time- 5 days per week). Please clearly indicate your availability in your application.

Conditions of the Internship:

Interns with UNICEF may be remunerated with a living allowance, depending on the specific conditions. Preferably the costs associated must be borne by the nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students; or by the student, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his or her own arrangements to take on this assignment.
