OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The CIS Unit has a key role to support the Regional Director in the effective delivery of his/her mandate and in the provision of leadership and coordination of the work of WHO in the African Region, particularly with respect to programmatic delivery at the country level. The Office provides advice to WHO country offices on the planning, development, monitoring and evaluation of Country Cooperation Strategies (CC); promotes the coherent and coordinated support of Regional Office programmes to the country offices; ensures that the country perspectives are integrated in Regional policies and plans; guides and facilitates the effective support of the Inter-country Support Teams (ISTs) to the country offices; and facilitates collaboration among and between country offices. The office is also responsible for advising the Regional Director on issues concerning the effective operations and program delivery of the country offices, making recommendations for appropriate policy or procedural change.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

--> Conduct data analysis, reporting, and mapping of data related to country office and inter-country office programmatic implementation; --> Contribute to maintaining a Country Support Portal, AFRO roster of experts, AFRO HWCO list, and other relevant databases;--> Support the CCS analysis and WHO presence survey, including preparing quarterly reports;--> Develop websites and platforms to foster inter-country and south-south cooperation.--> Perform other related responsibilities as assigned, including replacing and backstopping for others as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential\: First University degree in Statistics or Epidemiology with specialization in database development and management.
Desirable\:

Experience

Essential\: A minimum of two years' experience developing, maintaining and managing databases including data Analysis in governmental institutions, or regional/ international organizations.
Desirable\: Experience or understanding of WHO practices in IT and procedures.

Skills

Excellent organizational, technical, databases management and analytical skills with the ability to multitask and resolve technical issues as related to databases management in a proactive manner. Proven IT skills, particularly in databases and SharePoint applications. Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to solve and explain technical issues, and take part in to training activities with tact and diplomacy. Ability to write in a clear and concise manner, and to present factual information on database applications; knowledge of WHO practices and procedures an advantage.

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at XAF 16,258,000 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
