UNOPS Hub in Amman

The UNOPS Hub in Amman implements projects in Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, and Yemen, in partnership with bilateral donors, national governments, and other UN agencies.  With an established presence across the region, the office runs operations including large-scale procurement, project development, and technical management, and provides financial, human resources, and infrastructure-related services. The functional objective of UNOPS Hub in Amman is to deliver its projects in an efficient and effective manner and in line with the principles, rules and regulations of UNOPS, in order to support the response to the current needs and national priorities in the region.

The incumbent is responsible to abide by security policies, administrative instructions, plans and procedures of the UN Security Management System and that of UNOPS.

Functional Responsibilities

The objective of this consultancy is to design and develop the UNOPS in Amman website.  The website is to promote Project objectives and visibility amongst partners and the wider public.

Scope of Work:

• Website structure design
• Visual design built on responsive theme
• Design and develop the website using Drupal or WordPress CMS.
• Create different pages for each project implemented by UNOPS in Jordan. Each project will have a sub-project implemented in different areas.
• Main projects pages will present a dashboard showing project details, photos of before and after and an interactive database driven map presenting the different sub-projects.
• The map should show the project progress by time.

Sample website:

• A first university degree (Bachelor degree or equivalent) in Computer Science or equivalent qualification.
• 3 years of progressive experience in website design/development, with Drupal or Wordpress CMS, Apache web server, MySQL database and PHP scripting; CSS scripting; JavaScript is required.
• Experience in designing and developing responsive layout using bootstrap and jQuery;
• Strong Website Design experience;
• Experience working with online mapping (i.e Leaflet, MapBox, GMap, ArcGIS, ...etc)
• Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic is required.
