A roster of suitable candidates will be established for this post as a result of this selection process for fixed-term appointments against both established posts and positions funded by general temporary assistance (GTA).

Important:

Recruitment for this post in the General Service category is done on a local basis. As a result, staff are generally recruited from the area in which the particular office is located but could be of any nationality.  Candidates applying to a post in the General Services category shall meet the relevant employment and immigration requirements in the country of the duty station, including fulfilling residence and work permit conditions.

Applicants will be responsible for any expenses incurred in relation to: visa, travel to and from, and relocation to and from the duty station, in the event of an employment offer.

A staff member in the General Service category who has been locally recruited shall not be eligible for the entitlements and/or benefits exclusively applicable to internationally recruited staff.

Organisational Context

The Division of External Operations (DEO) is responsible for managing the activities of the ICC Field Offices through proper guidance, which requires coordination, anticipation, planning and monitoring. The interaction is based on effective communication between DEO and the Head of Field Office, which entails obtaining, processing and disseminating relevant information in a timely manner. DEO supports the Head of Field Office in their interaction with external actors with the aim of ensuring cooperation between the parties. The Division strives to ensure overall efficiency and effectiveness of its field operations with a view to supporting the Court’s operations and development.

Duties & Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Administration and Operations Officer, the Senior Driver will manage Field Office Fleet of Vehicles and distribute assignment s to subordinate drivers. The various tasks assigned to the Senior Driver include:

  • Monitoring all vehicle service requirements and recommends schedule of maintenance/repair of all vehicles;
  • Coordinating and authorising all transport requests, and assigning tasks to subordinate drivers;
  • Responsible for keeping an inventory of consumables and spare parts, arranging, ordering and purchasing of said items;
  • Directly involved in the supervision of minor repairs and maintenance of assigned vehicles;
  • Controlling and issuing fuel coupons for refuelling operations and maintaining related database;
  • Participating in the assessment of the drivers in line with obtaining drivers’ permit, monitoring drivers' performance with respect to passenger safety and responsibility for ensuring the safe operation of vehicles.
  • Performing other duties as required.

Essential Qualifications

Education:
Diploma of secondary education.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of four years of experience as driver.
  • Knowledge in mechanics and professional driving training.
  • Valid driver's licence, clean driving record, knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair.
  • Defensive driving courses would be an asset.
  • Supervisory experience would be an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to react within the framework of the daily activities and adaptation to the conditions of a particular journey.
  • Capacity to anticipate during maintenance activities and preventative maintenance of vehicles.
  • Being vigilant and alerting the supervisor of any issue concerning the passengers’ safety.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations through vehicle control and security awareness.
  • Specialised driving training.
  • Knowledge of  traffic rules as well as understanding of vehicle maintenance requirements and tools;
  • Good knowledge of  Microsoft Office (in particular Word, Excel and Outlook)

Knowledge of Languages:
Fluency in oral and written French and Sango is required. Working knowledge of English is desirable. Knowledge of vernacular languages subject to country will be considered an asset. Knowledge of another official language of the Court (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish) would be considered an asset.
