Over the past twenty eight years, CSI has collaborated with various government agencies and a number of foundations and international agencies to enhance community’s knowledge, skills, capacities & access to services for improving their quality of life .

We are going to implement a Disaster Risk Reduction project titled “Integrated School Safety and Resilience building in Schools and Community Settlements in South Delhi “ with the support of Save The Children India (Bal Raksha Bharat). School Safety Initiative for Schools in South Delhi is a pioneering initiative leading from Phase I to a Phase 2, building on the positive outcomes across 40 schools and development of school safety check for national capital region of Delhi. In phase 2, this intervention is delivering on “home-school-home” approach by making it an inclusive program by integrating 4 neighborhood slums as well as 20 additional schools. There is a “twinning” approach which would facilitate hazard, risk and vulnerability mapping across new 20 schools. Strategy would also include training a group of master trainers who will cascade the training across schools. Communities will undergo Participatory Vulnerability Capacity Mapping and Analysis so that risk reduction and resilience action will go forward in a diligent manner across schools and slum communities. Capacity Building as well as formation and strengthening of school and community based mechanisms (School Safety Committee, Children Group, Task Force, Mothers Group, Child Protection Committee) will be achieved through equipping the schools with necessary support. The project is for 2 years (April’2019-Dec’20).

Through this project, Child Survival India will have direct intervention in 60 SDMC schools and 4 neighborhood slum communities and is expected to reach out to 37500 children & 48570 adults.

The key advocacy objective of this intervention will be to promote Comprehensive School Safety and inclusion of its components into the education system.
