Organizational Setting
Cambodia is one of the focus countries of the two-year, multi-country project, titled “A multi-country study to refine the Minimum Dietary Diversity for Women (MDD-W) data collection tool”. The study aims to improve the operationalization of the MDD-W Data Collection Tool. The research also aims to determine the most effective approach to establish the minimum quantity criterion in reporting food intake that is applicable to Cambodia. The study results in Cambodia will contribute to a widely disseminated global evidence-based user guide on the optimal operationalization of MDD-W data collection in the field, including recommendations with context-specific guidelines, which are useful in maximizing completeness and accuracy of reported diets of women worldwide.

Technical Focus
- Collaborate with FAO and national research institution in all stages of the project
- Lead and coordinate capacity development activities
- Provide technical support to national research institution to implement the project
- Lead the collection of data, including statistical analysis and interpretation
- Contribute to drafting technical and financial reports
- Plan and conduct Project Advisory Group meetings and dissemination of project findings to relevant stakeholders
Tasks and responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representation in Cambodia and under technical guidance of the Nutrition Officer and Lead Technical Officer (LTO) of the project from the Nutrition and Food Systems Division (ESN) of FAO, Rome; and, direct supervision of the Operations Coordinator, the National Project Coordinator will undertake the following tasks\:
- Lead and coordinate capacity development activities, pre-test and pilot study, specifically;
- Support the selection of trained enumerators to carry out data collection
- Lead capacity development activities, including enumerator training and subsequent translations, when necessary
- Lead pre-test and pilot phase data collection and re-training, as necessary
- Support the adaptation of dietary survey instruments, tools and questionnaires, based on pre-test and pilot study outcomes;

- Provide technical oversight on all research activities, including sampling, data collection, management and monitoring, ensuring that activities are implemented according to the project document and research protocol, specifically;
- Ensure sound management of the local research team, including trained enumerators
- Monitor data collection to ensure the collection and entry of high quality data, ensuring appropriate backup and storage;

- Lead the management of MDD-W data collected, in close collaboration with the team leader from the national research partner, using the different dietary assessment methods, specifically;

- Ensure statistical analysis and interpretation is conducted following the standardized protocol
- Report on the process documentation to capture best practices from project initiation to completion;

- Contribute to drafting technical reports, guidelines, recommendations and scientific articles directly related to this project;
- Lead and support national research partner in the preparation of progress and final project reports to be submitted to FAO;
- Assist in the planning and conduct of Project Advisory Group meetings and dissemination of project findings to relevant stakeholders;
- Ensure effective communication between FAO, Project Advisory Group and national research partner in relation to the coordination, planning (including HQ missions), implementation, monitoring and reporting results of the project through emails, conference calls and workshops, as appropriate;
- Carry out any other relevant duties as required.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
- Advanced university degree in nutrition, public health, statistics or related disciplines.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in project management, capacity development training, implementing field surveys and research projects, and report writing.
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Khmer.
- Cambodian Nationality.
