Internship - Foundation Partnerships

Private Partnerships Division (PGP), Rome, Italy

Job Title: Foundation Partnerships Intern, Private Sector Partnerships Division (PGP)

Reporting to: Foundation Partnerships Officer, PGP

Contract length: 6-8 months, subject to satisfactory performance

Location: Rome, Italy

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are seeking for two (2) Foundation Partnerships Interns based in Rome, Italy.

The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need. In emergencies, WFP gets food to where it is needed, saving the lives of victims of war, civil conflict and natural disasters. After an emergency, WFP uses food to help communities rebuild their lives. On average, WFP reaches more than 91 million people with food assistance in over 80 countries each year. The organization has the global footprint, deep field presence and local knowledge and relationships necessary to provide access to food and contribute to lasting solutions, especially in many of the world’s most remote and fragile areas.

WFP is supporting countries to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by making a shift in strategic orientation required by the evolving context in the country and introducing a number of innovative initiatives that will lead to more tangible solutions to ending hunger. New approaches, strategic partnerships and technologies are critical to achieving these objectives.

By working with the private sector, WFP can find more efficient, effective and creative ways to achieve SDG 2: Zero Hunger. WFP can draw on its partners’ industry-leading knowledge, expertise, and positioning to strengthen operations, amplify our message, fund life-saving programmes and innovate solutions to some of the world’s most important challenges.

Some of the largest private foundations – such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The Rockefeller Foundation, and many others – are helping WFP achieve Zero Hunger by advocating, mobilizing resources, and strengthening WFP programmes to address the pressing need of most food insecure people around the world.

The Private Partnerships Division (PGP), based in WFP Headquarters in Rome, Italy, is looking for motivated individuals to join the Foundations Team, who will contribute to the development and existing partnerships with private foundations.
