STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Education: 

  • Advanced University degree in Political Science, International Development, Development Economics, Marketing Communications or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years in relevant fields of work and/or training courses.

Experience:

  • At least ten years of postgraduate professional experience in relevant fields of work, with a background and interest in cause-driven multi-sectoral partnerships, fundraising and advocacy campaigns, corporate social responsibility, communications, emergency response, development programmes and other related fields.
  • Recent fundraising experience in the Gulf region is required. 
  • Expertise in foundation engagement and large donors is an asset.
  • Candidates combining previous experiences with the United Nations, a philanthropic foundation, an advertising/PR agency and/or the private sector are encouraged to apply.


Language:  

  • Fluency in both oral and written communication in English is mandatory.
  • Fluency in both oral and written communication in Arabic is an asset

Assisting 91 million people in around 83 countries each year, the World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s leading humanitarian organization fighting hunger. WFP works collaboratively with private sector partners – foundations, businesses, NGOs and individuals – that provide financial, technical and advocacy support to reach those impacted by conflicts, natural disasters and protracted crises with crucial food assistance and long-term solutions against hunger and malnutrition.

JOB PURPOSE


WFP’s Dubai-based Private Sector Partnerships team manages partnerships with foundations, businesses, NGOs and individuals in the Gulf region and oversees private sector engagement efforts led by other WFP offices in the wider Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe region. The selected candidate will be joining this team to help develop and implement WFP’s regional partnership strategy, with a primary focus on the Gulf region.

Salary: Starting from AED 32,444.84 per month (inclusive of pension), plus medical insurance and other entitlements.  


Duration of Employment: 12 months with possibility of extension

Report to: Head of Private Sector Partnerships for the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe, based in Dubai.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Help develop and implement WFP’s regional private sector fundraising and partnership strategy for the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe, with a primary focus on the Gulf region, to better secure and steward existing and new private sector partners by category (individuals, businesses, foundations and NGOs).
  • Contribute to the development and management of a portfolio of private sector partnerships by conducting market analyses, identifying, profiling and shortlisting high-potential prospects in each market, coordinating activities and providing data that enables senior stakeholders to manage and respond to the new opportunities and negotiate advantageous contributions and partnership agreements, and developing proposals for strategic, mutually beneficial collaboration mechanisms that generate tangible human impact.
  • Contribute to the development and management of compelling and effective fundraising campaigns and events aimed at mobilizing resources and support from individual donors.
  • Collate, analyse and report on internal and external data pertaining to the region’s philanthropic scene, giving trends, legalities and existing and potential partners.
  • Draft briefs, reports and cheat sheet to enable informed decision-making and action planning by senior stakeholders.
  • Manage established partnerships by providing ongoing donor stewardship, developing strategies to nurture each partnership and maximize shared value, setting forecasts and analysing performance, empowering partners with tools and data to report on the impact of their contributions in an effective and compelling manner, and working with WFP’s Communications unit to acknowledge their commitment.
  • Ensure close coordination and alignment with senior management and all relevant WFP stakeholders to ensure smooth information flow and the effective development and implementation of WFP’s private sector fundraising and partnership in the region: WFP’s Dubai-based Partnerships division managing government partnerships in the Gulf region, WFP’s wider Private Sector Partnerships division and Individual Giving team headquartered in Rome, WFP’s Regional Bureau for the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe based in Cairo, WFP’s country offices operating in the region, WFP’s Communication division, WFP’s technical units operating out of the UAE (e.g. Logistics and IT), the ShareTheMeal team based in Munich, the Legal team based in Rome and all relevant support units supporting with finance, administration and HR.
  • Provide strategic guidance and technical support to WFP’s regional bureau and country offices in the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe to assist them in engaging with the local private sector in a strategic and effective manner.
  • Support WFP’s technical units in their efforts to engage with the private sector in the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe to mobilize resources and develop innovative solutions prone to fill financial and operational gaps.
  • Manage legal processes and documentation, both with private sector partners and the local authorities, to ensure that partnerships, campaigns and events in support of WFP abide by UN’s and WFP’s rules and regulations as well as with local fundraising laws.
  • Enter and update data, contacts and documents pertaining to partnerships and opportunities managed by the regional team in SalesForce and other relevant internal platforms.
  • Produce reports, brochures and PowerPoint presentations.
