Malteser International is working in Myanmar since 2001 and currently employs more than 350 national staff in Rakhine, Shan and Kayin states. Our work aims at ensuring communities have access to primary health care services. In support of our work in Rakhine State, Myanmar, Malteser International is looking for a motivated Nurse/Health Assistant, PHC-MCH (national position)

As a Nurse/Health Assistant, you will be responsible to manage all day-to-day PHC and MCH transactions of the Programs/projects to ensure effective program implementation within MI Health policies and procedures and donor requirements. Also you will assist the PHC-MCH Manager in providing efficient PHC and MCH management for improved ministry quality and achievement of overall organizational objective.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the delivery of an effective curative and preventive primary health care program, in accordance with national and Malteser International guidelines
  • Work in close cooperation with Basic Health Staff if assigned to a Rural Health Center or a Rural Health Sub-Center
  • Ensure the smooth set-up of clinics as required: preparation, hygienic set-up, patient registration and other preparation in RHSCs
  • Provide health education to the patients and their families
  • Monitor, collect and report timely all relevant data, especially morbidity data to the Head Nurse and/or PHC-MCH Manager and to BHS as they may require
  • Monitor closely, verify and report immediately to PHC-MCH Manager and BHS any suspected disease outbreaks or unusual disease trends within the community

Qualifications:

  • Nursing School Graduate with license, BNSc or Bachelor of Community Healthdegree
  • At least 1-2 years of relevant experience in a hospital, INGOs or clinic as Nurse/Health Assistant
  • Previous working experiencein a rural setting and able to understand challenges faced by rural communities in relation to poor health, and lack of knowledge
  • Good communicator with strong interpersonal skills and able to deal with the local communities
  • Previous experience with UN or NGO will be an asset

Conditions:

  • Start date: May 1st, 2019
  • Duty Station: Rakhine State, Myanmar and its project areas
  • Duration of contract: 1 year (extendable) due to donor approval
  • Salary according to qualification and experience: 14th month salary & health insurance
