Background information - ICT

UNOPS Information and Communication Technology (ICT) unit´s purpose is to embed innovation and harness cutting-edge technology to deliver solutions to UNOPS that truly address business needs as well as provide greater effectiveness, efficiency and differentiation to UNOPS products and services. UNOPS ICT unit is responsible for architecting, designing, delivering, and managing all UNOPS ICT infrastructure and business applications. The unit includes Enterprise Architects, Business Analysts, Solutions Designers and Developers from all around the world which are based primarily in Denmark and Thailand.  

We are looking for highly skilled and motivated individuals who will help us position UNOPS ICT as a truly transformative part of UNOPS.  

Functional Responsibilities

Reporting to the Development Team Lead, the Developer internship is an opportunity for a person who is eager to learn and contribute in developing and implementing business applications. The internship is a great opportunity for growing skills and expanding knowledge within system development in a multicultural, international context.

Tasks, amongst others, would be to:

  • Assist in implementing business applications through the development of code artefacts by utilising ASP.NET (C#), SQL Server, ExtJS or other organisationally approved platforms and framework
  • Analyse, design, coordinate and develop detailed technical specifications and translate them into solutions
  • Undertake unit and other forms of technical testing of business applications, ensuring that business applications work as intended and making sure the applications are optimized in terms of performance and usability.
  • Contribute to the specification of applications, ensuring high graphical and UX standards are met and brand consistency is adhered to as specified by the Enterprise Architecture and Platforms team
  • Contribute through evidence-based opinions during UX design sessions with other developers and provide feedback to the Enterprise Architecture and Platforms team on established design standards
  • Advocate for the development of new, innovative concepts that could be implemented in addition to or as a replacement for existing solution.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education

  • Completion of secondary school or equivalent is required
  • Candidates must either be pursuing a university degree such as a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. (or equivalent), or have graduated from a university no more than three years prior to applying for the internship.
Experience
  • Hands on proficiency with .NET, .NET Core or ASP.NET development in C# is desired
  • SQL skills (MS SQL Server) are desired
  • Understanding of Unit4 Business World/Agresso or other ERP platforms is an advantage
  • Knowledge and understanding of Web Service API’s especially in regard to integration is an advantage
  • Knowledge of the ExtJS or similar JavaScript frameworks would be an advantage
  • Experience with developing business applications within large and complex enterprise IT environments would be an advantage
Language requirements
  • Fluent English is required. 
  • Knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
