British Red Cross - Refusing to ignore people in crisis

The British Red Cross are currently looking for a Disaster Management Coordinator (DMC) for the MENA & Med region. The DMC will be responsible for developing, coordinating and advising on British Red Cross and Movement partners' disaster management activities within the region. 

The DMC is the primary focal point of contact within the region regarding disaster management expertise and the role consists of developing and maintaining relationships with other agencies, institutions and movement actors to ensure that the British Red Cross approach is informed and innovative.

The role will ensure high quality in emergency preparedness, lead BRC's emergency response in the MENA Med region, co-develop and support BRC's initiatives to strengthen organisational DM capabilities with national Red Cross Societies or International Federation of the Red Cross and engage with internal and external stakeholders to develop good practice.

The DMC will be line managed by the Head of Region and have a dotted line relationship with the Global Response Manager.  The post holder will work collaboratively, within a matrix structure, with colleagues and partners in the Region, and specialists within the Emergencies teams and Technical & Advisory staff. The post can be either operational or advisory, depending on the context.

The role will be based at the UK Head Office in London with extensive travel to the region. The successful candidate will have experience managing projects according to project cycle management and will be familiar with concept note and project proposal drafting as well as developing log frames. They will have experience implementing emergency responses and will have been previously exposed to overseas work in challenging contexts.
