The Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) is a partnership between the United Nations and the civil society, which supports women led and women’s rights organizations working to build peace and provide humanitarian response throughout the world. Since the end of 2016, the WPHF has been supporting over 55 civil society organizations and is present in 7 countries or group of countries.

 

UN Women hosts the Secretariat of the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund. The WPHF Secretariat provides support to the Funding Board, mobilizes resources from Governments, companies, foundations and individual, provides day to day support to Country Offices implementing WPHF programmes, ensures timely and quality monitoring and reporting. The Secretariat’s mandate is also to strengthen stakeholders’ knowledge of and engagement with women, peace and security issues through proper internal and external communications, advocacy and outreach. Finally, the Secretariat provides knowledge management services for the WPHF, and has been mandated to establish a Community of Practice (CoP) for WPHF partners and grantees.

 

Under the direct supervision of Policy Specialist – Peace and Security the Communications, Advocacy & Knowledge Management Analyst, will manage the development of the WPHF Community of Practice, including establishing an accessible online platform for engagement, and working to build participation and sharing among CoP members. The incumbent will draft and roll out a section-wide knowledge and information management strategy and support the work of the broader WPHF Secretariat including, advocacy, capacity building and strategic partnerships, and learning and knowledge production and management. The incumbent will develop and implement global outreach and strategic communications, and contribute to the broader work of the Peace and Security Section.

,Develop a Community of Practice (CoP) for the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund\:
  • Develop and launch the CoP in coordination with UN Women staff at the HQ, Regional and Country Office level;
  • Liaise with pro bono partner company on needs assessment and ongoing monitoring and evaluation of CoP development, roll-out and usage;
  • Establish guidelines and criteria for key strategic partners, including Centres of Excellence;
  • Map skills and expertise across CoP participants, including through surveys and other methods for information capture and analysis;
  • Develop and populate CoP with needs-based and responsive interactive content;
  • Research and implement multi-lingual capacity-building opportunities for CoP members;
  • Facilitate learning, knowledge sharing and peer-to-peer exchange through multi-channel media;
  • Identify opportunities for face-to-face engagement in conjunction with other key events;
  • Track user participation and implement responsive solutions to build engagement and communication;
  • Liaise with CoP leads within UN Women’s Policy Division and other UN partners to ensure internal knowledge and good practice exchange and sharing.
Coordinate the development and implementation of communication and outreach strategies and plans, to support the objectives of the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund\:
  • Draft and implement communication and outreach/advocacy strategies, including media strategies;
  • Provide inputs to ensure communication, advocacy and outreach strategies are integrated into proposals for project/programmes and other initiatives;
  • Monitor and analyze print and social media and draft reports;
  • Coordinate WPHF campaigns and special events as needed;
  • Provide advice and guidance to and coordinate with Country Offices managing WPHF allocations on communication and outreach activities;
  • Maintain WPHF’s web and social media presence.
 Coordinate the development and dissemination of advocacy materials for the WPHF\:
  • Draft and produce communication and advocacy instruments and materials, including briefing materials, press releases, and articles and coordinate its dissemination through effective channels;
  • Identify and launch information opportunities, activities, approaches and platforms and partners;
  • Lead the engagement and supervision of video producers and other communication specialists to produce audio/ visual material on WPHF’s work;
  • Draft brochures, factsheets, stories from the field to inform media and general public at the regional level. 
Build and maintain partnerships and maintain relations with partners\:
  • Identify and develop new communication partnerships and alliances to enhance visibility; manage and nurture existing partnerships;
  • Liaise with advocacy partners and undertake outreach to civil society organizations, governments, and other groups to ensure that newsworthy information reaches the public;
  • Guide and collaborate closely with communication colleagues in other offices to ensure consistency with corporate policies, messaging and initiatives;
