UNICEF Lebanon is looking for a dynamic individual to be hired as the Information Management Officer in the Education section to organize the mass amount of information generated daily from all the programmes through different channels in each of zonal programmes and other crucial information

Playing out over the past two years, the Syria conflict has proven to be a complex emergency situation affecting a number of neighboring countries. Lebanon is today hosting the largest number of Syrians of any affected neighboring country. By 30th September 2015, over 1,078,338 Syrians had been registered or were awaiting registration with UNHCR.
 
The current scale of the response and different programmatic avenues require additional UNICEF capacity to organize the mass amount of information generated daily from all the programmes through different channels in each of zonal programmes. In addition, it is crucial for this information to be readily maintained and disseminated to relevant UNICEF programmes and Beirut country office in a timely and consistent manner for evidence-based decision making and effective programmatic response. 
The Lebanon Country Office has developed new information and analytical tools, and the requirements in term of information and analysis is becoming crucial and requires a dedicated staff member to strengthen our current programming.
 
To this end, UNICEF is seeking qualified Information Management Officer to support the Education Section in Lebanon Country Office.

How can you make a difference?


I. By Supporting in Knowledge Management and Research:
a. Gather and collate education-related datasets from corporate documents, Lebanon education sector and the MEHE.
b. Perform comparative datasets of education-related data across several scholastic years.
c. Review CERD publications, extract relevant data and trends and produce a comprehensive archive of the extracted data.
d. Support the IM Officer in compiling and disseminating the Section’s progress through regular reporting mechanisms (Sitreps and HPM table updates, etc.)
e. Support the IM Officer in producing all necessary visuals and infographics
f. Support the IM Officer in producing communicating material to Section, the MEHE or Donors
 
II. By Supporting in Programming and Monitoring:
a. Support the IM Officer in all data analysis required to guide Programme Officers in their programming and monitoring of Partners progress and reporting.
b. Follow-up with Partners and provide direct or indirect (by facilitating flow of information from Partner to PRIME Section) assistance to all their queries and problems encountered while reporting their activities.
c. Triangulate and ensure consistency of data reported by Partners on the various data reporting tools (CLM, Activity Info and Narrative Reports)
d. Develop monthly education related material showing activities progress to date.
e. Support data collection for all education activities implemented by UNICEF and its implementing Partners
f. Proactively gather, verify and analyze data related to specific project and reported by UNICEF Partners on the data reporting platforms.
g. Support the Planning and Monitoring Unit in following-up and updating the Section Monitoring and Evaluation Plan
 
III. By Supporting in Coordination with Sector:
a. Ensure all education-related figures are communicated to Sector
b. Ensure Education targets and achievements are in line with Sector figures
c. Follow-up on Sector activities and ensure integration with UNICEF Education Section
d. Follow-up on the progress of the Sector in Education related activities
e. Ensure activities jointly conducted by UNICEF Education Section and the Sector are coordinated
f. Ensure instructions issued by UNICEF as Education Sector lead are properly communicated to the Sector.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A University degree or equivalent in a relevant field or discipline such as geographic sciences, statistics, political science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, Architecture, or Communications
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience 
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of French is an asset

Technical Skills:

Essential:
•Strong knowledge of MS office suite and advanced knowledge in excel and database 
•Understanding of GIS/Cartographic outputs and ability to collect and organize data to support their production.
•Ability to present information in understandable tables, charts and graphs
•Knowledge of ArcGIS or other mapping software an advantage.
 
Other:
•Data storage and file management expertise
•Communicates effectively in both graphic and narrative form
•Information Technology and networking skills
•Ability to present information in understandable tables, charts and graphs
•A high level of organizational skills.
