Background

The Integrated Talent Management Unit is responsible for designing strategies, solutions, tools and services that enable and facilitate more effective and impactful people decisions and help shape a workplace where individuals thrive and teams excel. The Unit includes several service lines e.g. competency management, job design and classification; talent sourcing, onboarding, and succession management; diversity, employee engagement, and staff well-being; performance management, learning and leadership development, and career management. It also includes a distinct service line for internal management consulting which enables strategic positioning, resources alignment and business process reengineering. 
 
The mission of ITM is to enable effective management of UNDP talent through full integration of all aspects of talent management. Such an approach incorporates data from a variety of processes from recruitment, to performance management, learning, and development, and translates it into a coherent ‘employee life cycle' centered around one competency framework aligned with the UNDP Strategic Plan. The Talent Development Unit (TDU) plays a key role in the talent development process including developing frameworks, programmes, tools and partnerships.
 
TDU has three focus area: a) support teams to achieve the highest possible performance to realize the organization’s strategic mission, b) prepare and continually develop employees and learning ecosystems to achieve the highest possible performance to meet the organization’s strategic mission and c) design processes, systems and tools to create a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, growth, innovation and development.
As UNDP implements its new People Strategy (2019 - 2021) we must evolve our employee value proposition throughout the employee experience while strengthening our brand to attract, develop and retain diverse talent. UNDP is committed to implementing state of the art employee experiences across the employee life cycle. This role will focus on supporting the enablement of UNDP’s people to find, pursue, and excel in the kinds of experiences they need in order to grow, develop and perform. The position reports to the HR Manager, Employee Experience (P4).
 

Duties and Responsibilities

Employee Experience, Career Management and Operations Support:
  • Provide support to the implementation of career management services, resources and tools for all UNDP personnel globally (over 17,000 people).
  • Create career management resources e.g. employee guides, manager guides, videos and maintain these on the “Career Catalyst”, UNDP’s internal Career Management Portal.
  • Manage help-desk services to clients related for career management and talent development. 
  • Provide administrative support e.g. logistics, participant management, coordination with vendors
  • Organize podcasts, newsletters, videos etc. for communicating career management services.
  • Deliver webinars, online learning, and technology enhanced learning.
  • Develop and processes contracts for institutions providing training and courses, ensuring compliance with UNDP rules and regulations.
  • Researches, analyzes, verifies, and compiles information on external vendors and consultants.
Research, Data Management and Evaluation:
  • Conduct research to collect information related to best practices for relevant employee experiences.
  • Collect and analyze data to e.g. to evaluate and improve programmes and identify trends.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:
 
  • A high-school degree (secondary school) is a minimum requirement. 
  • An advanced university degree (bachelor’s and / or master’s degree) in a related field such as human resources, business management or project management is desired.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience (or: a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree) related to the Employee Experience e.g. human resources, recruitment, onboarding, talent and leadership development, career management, talent development, assessments, capacity management, HR Business Partnering.
  • Experience working with learning management systems and / or technology enhanced learning.
  • Experience in communications and delivery of webinars to serve a global client group.
  • Experience in providing administrative support in an international environment required.
  • Experience in the usage of software packages (MS PPT, Word, Excel, etc.) and advanced knowledge in using MS Office 360, share-point etc.
Language Requirements:
 
  • Fluency in oral and written English is required.  
  • Working knowledge of French or Spanish an asset.
 
OtherAdditional assets:
  • Experience working in the United Nations or multi-lateral system.
  • Experience in a UN country office and/or at Headquarters desirable.
  • Experience working in talent development desirable.
  • Project management, adult education, coaching or career counselling certificates an asset.
