If you are looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a tangible difference for one of the most vulnerable communities in the world, UNRWA would like to hear from you.• In this role, you will be responsible to the Vehicle Control Officer through the Dispatcher concerned.• You are subject to overall supervision of the Transport Operations Officer.

In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the ideal candidate:

•            Is required to drive the designated Agency vehicle, as directed within the Limitations of local traffic regulations and the type of license held;

•            Is the Agency's official custodian of the vehicle assigned to him/her;

•            Is responsible for the efficient operation and cleanliness of the assigned vehicle, day-to-day maintenance, checking of oil, battery, brakes and tries, its safety and that of its passengers and/or freight;

•            Ensures that relevant transport documents are properly completed according to instructions; logs all trips and daily mileage, and ensures that trips are supported by authorized requisitions;

•            Ensures that rules and regulations are adhered to, especially, in case of accidents;

•            Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Additional Information

•            The incumbent is required to travel frequently in the assigned field of operation

•            The incumbent should have Jerusalem ID

•            Possession of a valid driving Israeli license.

Conditions of service

Limited Duration Contract, Band B

•            Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary $772.30 and monthly dependency allowance $18.65 and Group Medical Insurance GMI $12.00.

•            Contract Duration: one year. Extension is subject to funds availability, continuing need and satisfactory performance.

•            Employment for this post might be either on full-time or part-time basis based on the needs. Announcing this modality does not mean that it would definitely be used. It would rather give the Agency the flexibility to use both full time and part time contracts based on the work needs and the personal circumstances or preferences of the staff member.

•            Leave: 2.5 days per month.

•            Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.

To qualify for this position, you will need:

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• ••• Possession of a driving Israeli license (valid in the country of duty station) to drive vehicle of minimum band C to which assigned;

Work Experience ••••••••••• •• At least three years of related job experience in driving various types of vehicles.

Desirable qualifications

Ability to read maps, Ability to understand and implement rules, regulations and instructions, Discreet with a professional appearance.

You will also need to demonstrate the following competencies:

Ability to take initiative and maintain acceptable relationship with all concerned; Security awareness and knowledge of security arrangements; Sound knowledge of the Operation of all types of vehicles used by the Agency, and basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance with the ability to carry out minor vehicle repairs; Ability to work under pressure and beyond official working hours.

Equivalency

When the minimum requirements are not fully met, Field Director for Field Area staff and Director of Human Resources for Headquarters Area staff, in consultation with the concerned supervisor may exceptionally substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualifications, additional professional training and progressive relevant work experience.

NB: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered an acceptable combination
