Under the overall supervision of UNOPS Senior Programme Manager,  the incumbent will administratively work under the Data and Analytics Specialist in New York and functionally work with the Team Lead Strategic Force Generation Cell in the Office of the Military Affairs (OMA) in the UN.

Functional Responsibilities

  1. Development of tools and processes to collect new data and improve data quality in collaboration with stakeholders;
  2. Supporting the development process of data analyses and visualizations, including scoping, design, implementation, testing, delivery and guiding staff on the use of the products;
  3. Developing corporate visualization solutions derived from multiple data sources using state-of-the-art tools to enable insight and decision-making at various levels;
  4. Developing data models, including performance measures, to enable scorecard analysis;
  5. Developing report templates and briefing materials for reporting purposes;
  6. Performing ad-hoc analysis and present results in a clear manner;
  7. Performing any other duties as required;
Impact of Results:
The results of the work of the Data Visualization Analyst impact directly on delivery of services that satisfy the requirements of the Department as well as the performance of these services implemented in the DOS-supported entities, field missions and headquarters. It will also ensure proper processes and methodologies are followed and implemented according to the latest of the industry standards. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring activities for all global locations are in line with the overall business targets and UN policies, rules and regulations.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education:

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in information technology, computer science, engineering, economics,  business or in a field related to the post description.
  • A first level university degree with a combination of relevant academic qualifications and experience in information technology, computer science, engineering,  business or in a field related may be accepted in lieu of advanced university degree.
Experience:

Required:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in development, implementation and maintenance of business intelligence / analytics tools and applications, or related tasks;
  • A minimum of two years (2) of experience in producing tools and materials (reports, presentations) to communicate data-driven insights to clients and senior decision-makers by using MS PowerBI, MS Excel, PowerPivot, Tableau, Qlik Sense or any other similar selfservice analytics toolsets;
  • A minimum of one year (1) of experience working with clients using a user-centric design process and training users in analytics tools;
  • Experience analyzing data on performance, such as evaluation or equipment performance data or other related data;

Desirable:

  • A keen interest in analytics, information management, visualization and performance optimization;
  • Experience in quantitative techniques;
  • Experience developing data collection tools using EFM Verint or similar survey toolkits;
Language:
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of a second UN language is highly desirable.
