Org. Setting and Reporting

The internship will be undertaken under the overall guidance of the Director of the Subregional Office for North Africa of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, based in Rabat (Morocco) and the supervision of the Economic Affairs Officer. This internship is a full time job (35 hours/week) of minimal duration of 4 months with possibility of extension up to a maximum period of 6 months and it is not remunerated.

Responsibilities

Under the general guidance of the Economic Affairs Officer, the intern will undertake the following assignments:
1. Collect information and conduct preliminary research on SMES financing
2. Assist the Economist in drafting a preliminary report on the problematic of SMEs financing in North Africa.
3. Participate to the organization of a workshop on the topic
4. Contribute to analytical papers of the office.

Education

To qualify for an internship, the following condition must be met:
(a) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
(c) Have graduated with a university degree
Be computer literate in standard software applications;

Work Experience

Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme. However, experience in the field of development economics and in finance is a plus.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in French (both oral and written) is required for the Internship Programme. Working knowledge
of English and Arabic is an asset.
