The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors.
The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs
Background
NRC has been operating in Libya since 2018 with offices in Tripoli and Benghazi. NRC is providing assistance to Libyan IDPs, returnees and host communities in Benghazi and Tripoli with potential expansion to adjacent districts. NRC Libya is working to deliver variety of programming across the following sectors: Shelter, WASH, and Education. In the course of 2019 options for expanding programming to support the migrant and refuge population will be developed.
Role Specific/Purpose:
The Logistic Assistant will work under the supervision of logistic officer in Benghazi Office. The purpose of the position is to assist in the day to day implementation of the Logistics functions responsibilities in Benghazi.
Key Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
· Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
· Assist with the implementation of the Logistics function portfolio according to plan of action
· Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
· Ensure proper filing of documents
· Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function
· Maintain asset-tracking documentation, conduct physical checks and ensure completion of handover forms
· Conduct small procurements in accordance with guidelines and assist larger procurements including identifying suppliers, gathering quotations and preparing documentation
· Conduct daily checks on vehicles, generators and facilities. Arrange scheduled and ad-hoc maintenance.
· Assist stock and inventory documentation, storage and transportation
. Maintain and update the logistics supporting documentation and follow the archiving and securing supporting documentation guidelines for all logistics files
Ideal Candidate Profile:
We are seeking a motivated professional to join our team in Libya Office. The ideal candidate will have a 1 to 3 years of experience working in the logistics field in a humanitarian/recovery context.
Additional useful skills include: Strong organizational skills and teamwork skills, good communication and interpersonal skills, Good computer skills in Microsoft office (MS Excel, Word, and outlook) should have. Good verbal communication skills (Arabic & English).
Additional Information:
Contract Period: 6 months
