About the job 
(The TECHNICAL ASSISTANT contributes to the overall level of health and hygiene in the camp by supervising the technical team to improve the operation and maintenance for all WASH facilities)  
 
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:  
• Conduct duties in accordance with DRC Iraq programs Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). 
• Under the general supervision of the Site Supervisor, monitor and supervise construction, maintenance and repair activities as defined by project requirements, technical standards, specifications and other documentation.  
• Responsible DRC tools and equipment’s during the working time. 
• Checking the status of the (WASH facilities) and make the necessary maintenance. 
• Make sure to coordinate and Collaborate with a number of other partners, including hygiene promotion team, water monitoring team and workers during implementation of WASH programs. 
• Design initial BoQ of any type of intervention required to meet project needs, in relation with the technical officer and WASH team leader, and support the conducting of site assessments and support the Site Supervisor with design and planning of works as requested.  
• Support the development of technical specifications for requests and quotations 
• Assess and document all technical needs, and items. 
• Mobilize communities to identify priority public health issues. 
• Take responsibility for on-site stock, inventories, materials, tools and equipment, including correct filing and documentation.  
• Train community members, municipal workers and local partners on improving the usage of WASH facilities 
• Document and share lessons learnt with the project officer, local community members and other stakeholders. 
• Monitor the project progress on site and provide feed-back to the management with the support of and in close cooperation with the monitoring team. 
• Manage the technical team documentation. 
• Ensure every member of the technical team and other supporting members are following safety measures in the camp 
• Propose solutions or improvement for better performance of the projects. 
• Follow up with laborers and contractors as necessary. 
• Write weekly activity report, and ensure regular and timely reporting of problems, potential delays or risks to project implementation to the relevant supervisor. 
• Any other duties as may be assigned. 
Other 
• Undertake any other duties that may be assigned by the Line Manager; 
• Conduct duties in accordance with DRC Iraq programme Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); 
• Conduct duties in accordance with DRC Code of Conduct, HAP and other key documents 
 
Reporting Line: 
Reporting to: Team Leader - Water , Sanitation and Hygiene. 
 
 
About you  
• Flexibility 
• Minimum one year experience of working with UN or Non-Governmental Organizations desirable. 
• Understanding of age, gender and diversity issues. 
• Knowledge of stock management 
• Strong organizational skills. 
• Ability to prioritize large and changeable workloads 
• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team 
• Able to work independently and energetically  
• Computer knowledge (word, Excel) 
 
 
Education: 
Relevant university degree or similar education – University or 
Technical College degree
