JOB SUMMARY

Supervise the clinical management of MdM’s health care clinics as well as the community-based component of our Primary Health Care (PHC) program in Lovua settlement, a Congolese refugee settlement with a total population of about 20.000 people – with a focus on local capacity building.

ORGANIZATION CHART

The successful candidate will be part of the Humanitarian coordination team and will report to the Medical Coordinator.

FUNCTIONS

· Assist the Medical Coordinator in ensuring the appropriate functioning and clinical management of three MdM health care clinics in Lovua settlement (including management of the medical team, the central pharmacy and the referral system to secondary and tertiary health care facilities)

· Focus on capacity building within the medical team to train and empower local staff members with the goal to nationalize supervising roles and positions.

· Support the organization of the activities of 32 Community Health Workers (CHWs) to increase and improve the awareness raising, screening, identification and referral pathways of primary health care issues, such as malnutrition and sexual reproductive health.

· Empower and support the coordinator of the CHWs team in terms of scheduling, team management, recruitment, performance reflection, preparation of awareness campaigns, etc.

· Plan and implement capacity building activities for the medical team and CHWs to extend their knowledge and skills, such as trainings and workshops.

· Gather project information, monitor progress of activities and results through data collection and assist in report writing.

· Contribute to the emergency preparedness of the project through the review of the contingency plans.

· Participate in the writing of donor’s proposal and activity progress reports.

· If needed, participate in health needs assessment and identification of new projects.

· If needed, represent MdM with partners, stakeholders and authority.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Academic background: Degree in Medicine (preferably Family Doctor), Midwife or Nurse specialized in Sexual Reproductive Health

Desirable:

  • A Master in International Cooperation and/or Humanitarian Aid / Public Health Studies/ Tropical Medicine Studies

REQUIREMENTS:

Language requirements: High level of spoken and written French and Portuguese or Spanish. Advanced level of English is desired.

Experience: Previous experience with obstetrics, sexual reproductive health and/or nutrition programs. Experience in local capacity building and coaching.

Computer requirements: Office pack user level.
