IREX is actively seeking a Systems Administrator for its Washington, DC office. As a member of the IT Unit, the position of Systems Administrator will be primarily supporting the IREX’s IT Infrastructure and various IT related projects to facilitate growth and development activities. This position will be in a fast-paced environment while working multiple systems simultaneously. The ability to multi-task is vital to the continued success of the IT Unit.

POSITION SUMMARY

IREX is actively seeking a Systems Administrator for its Washington, DC office. As a member of the IT Unit, the position of Systems Administrator will be primarily supporting the IREX’s IT Infrastructure and various IT related projects to facilitate growth and development activities. This position will be in a fast-paced environment while working multiple systems simultaneously. The ability to multi-task is vital to the continued success of the IT Unit.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary technology areas supported are Microsoft Azure AD, Microsoft Office 365 (Exchange, Groups, SharePoint, Teams) and Microsoft Intune.

  • Oversee and perform maintenance on system/network services including Windows 2012 R2 AD, GPO, WSUS, WDS.
  • Administer services and applications within Office 365/Azure AD.
  • Administer NAS and VMware ESXi 5.5 virtual environment.
  • Deploy and use proactive system and network monitoring tools
  • Administer centrally managed enterprise AV.
  • Provide Tier I/II/III Help Desk Support
  • Recommend, evaluate, plan, test, architect, engineer & maintain new technologies for initiatives or upgrades on testing, development and lab network segments.
  • Create and maintain server and network documentation.
  • After-hours support on a weekly on-call basis.
  • Assist in training users on new technologies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience supporting, and implementing technology programs, computer system infrastructure, network operations, application development and configurations, and system/server administration, in organizations with at least 100 employees.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills as the position involves 50% personal interaction.
  • Experience supporting remote users.
  • Experience utilizing vendor support channels to accomplish duties outside of existing knowledge level. i.e. minimizing time to complete a project by using vendor support for the “expertise” while utilizing time for institutional knowledge or security sensitive tasks.
  • Experience with PowerShell and other computer scripting languages is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a time-critical production environment.
  • Ability to comprehend and plan systems architecture and design.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, different time zones, and languages.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Tasks involve some physical effort, i.e. some standing and walking, or frequent light lifting (2.5-5 kg.); or minimal dexterity in the use of fingers, limbs, or body in the operation of office equipment. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard. • Extended period of time sitting at a workstation or desk. Manual dexterity to work efficiently on a computer keyboard.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

All employees are responsible for their own safety, as well as that of others in the workplace. To help us maintain a safe workplace, everyone must be safety-conscious at all times. This position is performed in a typical office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Safe use of IREX equipment, as well as safe practices while on IREX property is essential.
