Position Overview

Reporting to the Project Director, the Training and Employment Specialist will provide technical leadership and oversight of the project’s skills trainings activities for vulnerable women and girls. She/he will develop, implement, and manage the skills trainings related to labor rights, job placement, and other economic advancement activities. She/he will conduct regular project data analysis and identify methods to use results for program improvement. This position is contingent upon award.

Key Responsibilities

The Training and Employment Specialist’s primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the project’s skills training curriculum for trainings on labor rights, job placement, and other economic advancement activities.
  • Provide trainings and mentoring to partners and staff to ensure the implementation of strong programmatic activities.
  • Collect and analyze data to carry out tailored skills trainings, labor rights-related awareness raising, and economic advancement activities and to determine access to protection against violations of labor rights.
  • Work collaboratively with government and other actors to ensure successful programing.

Basic Requirements

  • Minimum a Bachelors’ degree in a relevant field preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a leadership position responsible for developing, managing, and/or implementing skills training opportunities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of skills trainings, including technical, vocational, and lifelong training opportunities in Colombia; preferability for vulnerable women and girls.
  • Understanding of gender mainstreaming and exploitive labor issues, including child labor, forced labor, and/or other labor issues.
  • Fluency in Spanish and proficiency in English is preferred.
  • Applicant must be national/local - must devote a minimum of 90 percent of time to project activities to achieve expected outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of human-centered design is preferred.
  • Ability to analyze data to carry out tailored skills training, labor rights-related awareness raising, and economic advancement activities and to determine access to protection against violations of labor rights.
  • Experience working with government and private sector actors to economically empower women and adolescent girls.
  • Understanding of labor issues and local labor regulations, including those related to securing non-hazardous, non-exploitive employment opportunities for youth of legal working age.
