Associate Staff Counsellor

Organizational Setting and Work Relationships

The Associate Staff Counsellor supports the work of UNHCR Staff Counsellors through participation in case management, development of global staff wellbeing initiatives and data analysis. The Associate Staff Counsellor is a part of the front office and in collaboration with the Admin Associate manages the reception of clients and ensures that they are attended to with professionalism and care. Under the direct supervision of the Chief, Psychosocial Wellbeing Section, the Associate Staff Counsellor is the key focal point for production of promotion and educational materials (intranet content, brochures) and quarterly statistical reports for the entire team. The Associate Staff Counsellor supports the Staff Counsellors with research of relevant topics and is the focal point for the activities related to duty of care. The Associate Staff Counsellor backs up the Admin Associate when absent from duties. The Associate Staff Counsellor is directly supervised by the Chief however is expected to collaborate closely with other colleagues at the HQ (Geneva and Budapest) and in the field.

Duties

- In collaboration with the Admin Associate manage the client reception and ensure that they are attended to in a professional and efficient manner.
- Manage the portfolio of requests for domestic help arrangements under the guidance of the Staff Counsellor (HQ). This includes providing guidance to the applicants, verifying the applications and preparing correspondence and handling communication with the Swiss Mission, and maintaining the domestic helper files.
- In collaboration with the Admin Associate provide information on living conditions to the newcomers to Geneva. 
- Manage the invitation process for staff eligible for psychological preparation and monitor the process of invitations for the end of assignment debriefings.
- Take charge of the administrative support to the Section and the PW team globally including supporting the workspace arrangements, necessary equipment and stationary; support in organizing the official travel when needed (visa, reservations, coordination of clearances); organization of meetings/workshops including finding the venue and coordinating other arrangements; coordinate contractual arrangements with external service providers when necessary.
- Manage the Section¿s cost centre: process the payments, maintain and produce expenditure reports for the Chief of Section.
- Manage the filing and archiving of the PWS: ensure that contacts information of the PW team globally is always up to date on intranet, documents and other communication means, manage the HQSW00 inbox and ensure that the queries are followed up on.
- Support the case management in the PW as requested.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Years of Experience / Degree Level
For P2/NOB - 3 years relevant experience with Undergraduate degree; or 2 years relevant experience with Graduate degree; or 1 year relevant experience with Doctorate degree

Applicants who applied for a position in a High Risk country will receive, after the deadline for applications has expired, a joint invitation from the Staff Welfare Section (SWS) and the Field Safety Section (FSS) to participate in these webinars. During the Webinars, latest updates on security and well-being will be provided, and FSS and SWS will address questions raised by participants. Applicants are highly encouraged to benefit, when applicable, from all measures as they provide most up-to-date security and well-being information helpful to assess staff’s readiness to serve in a High Risk Duty Station. A Staff Welfare Officer will also be available, if and when required, to discuss with interested applicants the results of the psychological preparedness tool as well as readiness for assignment in High Risk Duty Stations.
