Responsible for ensuring supply response readiness and tools development in line with the Emergency Supply Response Strategy.

Purpose of the job:

Responsible for ensuring supply response readiness and tools development in line with the Emergency Supply Response Strategy.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities: 

  • Work together with the Emergency Coordinator, the Logistics Manager, the Warehouse manager and the procurement centres on adequate ESL replenishment planning, to ensure availability of essential emergency supplies in line with Emergency Supply Response Strategy in support of UNICEF’s Core Commitments for Children in Humanitarian Action.
  • Monitor ESL performances and ensures review and updating of both the strategy and the ESL.
  • In collaboration with the Emergency Coordinator, the Logistics Manager, to develop guidelines and tools in support of global emergency preparedness and response at CO/RO level.
  • Ensure adequate monitoring of current Emergency Sales Orders.
  • Support the Emergency Coordinator, the Logistics Manager in emergency response and the management of coordination activities.
  • Evaluate impact of emergency response on non-emergency delivery and propose mitigation measures.
  • Deployment when needed to set-up field office logistics systems from scratch or improve current systems, when requested as either a part of regular operations or for emergency deployment.
  • Provide emergency preparedness support to COs/ROs.

Qualifications of Successful Candidate:

Education:

  • Advanced University Degree (Master’s Degree) in Business Administration, Economics, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related technical field.
  • Other academic qualifications in Public Procurement desirable.
  • A 1st level University Degree (Bachelor’s Degree) in Business Administration, Economics, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related technical field with two (2) additional years (total 7 years) of relevant experience, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in supply management, including at least three years of logistics activities in emergency environments. 
  • Experience in leading Supply Planning.
  • Proven proficiency in translating concepts into guidance and tools.
  • Proficiency in data and information management.          

Languages:

Fluency in English and another UN language.
