Job Description

Women Protection and Empowerment (WPE)  program is implementing GBV Programming in Minbya township which includes GBV prevention activities and GBV response activities, provide technical trainings to stakeholders, and  coordination with other implementing agencies for collaboration in celebration of global events such 16days of activism and International Women Days.

Overview:

The WPE Program Officer will have overall responsibilities for all GBV prevention parts in WPE program (Minbya). The position is technical position, provide technical support to WPE outreach team in provision of different kinds of GBV prevention activities to individual level, community level. He/She will have responsible for capacity building to WPE staff, other INGO/NGOs and other partner stakeholders.

This position will be based in Minbya, Rakhine State.

Responsibilities

  • Be focal person for all GBV prevention part in WPE- Minbya program.
  • Provide technical guidance to WPE outreach team: GBV prevention curriculums TOTs.
  • Contextualize and adapt GBV prevention curriculums/guidance  if needed by the support of WPE manager (Minbya/Myaebon)
  • Focal point for development of IEC materials for GBV prevention activities if needed.
  • Lead in facilitation of GBV trainings to WPE staff, other INGO/NGOs and other partner stakeholders in Minbya township.
  • Ensure data collection and M&E measures are carried out correctly and collaborate with M&E assistant for validation of data.
  • Ensure necessary materials are provided for team and activities including raising purchase requests, following up with logistics teams and delivery of materials.
  • Support on other assignments as requested by the program

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent work experiences·

Experiences 

  • At least 1 to 2 years of working experience with INGOs especially on gender based violence programming.
  • At least one year experience of providing training, facilitation workshop and organizing meetings

Competencies

  • Well understanding of Power Dynamic in community, GBV core concepts, survivor centered approach.
  • Must follow GBV guiding principles as long as being WPE team member.
  • Commitment to reducing GBV in the community, increasing the protection of women and girls, women’s empowerment, and providing support to GBV survivors
  • Understanding of local context, sensitivities, and needs as pertains to GBV issues
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse groups and individuals, including beneficiaries, colleagues, and external partners
  • Able to effectively lead a team, by providing clear guidance, technical support, knowledge, active listening, and leading by example
  • Flexible and patient in adapting to evolving program needs
  • Able to independently and creatively solve day to day challenges as they arise
  • Self-starter who is motivated to proactively address program gaps and strengthen existing activities
  • Organized with attention to detail
  • Positive attitude and team player

Language

  • Fluent in Burmese, local languages
Myanmar nationals with relevant skills sets and proven experience of working at international level are strongly encouraged
